Does anybody else find it difficult to maintain their normal weight since suffering with IBS-C? Although I am weighing pretty much the same on the scales (perhaps the odd few pounds heavier) my clothes don’t fit me the same. I’m also unable to eat as much food as I did before having IBS-C and I’m no better off for it weight wise. Not sure if it’s the IBS or the fact that I have just turned 40. Does anybody else have the same problem?

I find clothes don't seem to fall properly over the tummy - I bloat but for some reason never as bad as it is now - years ago it was fine and I do wonder since incorporating probiotics it's worse - no prebiotics in them but I do think sometimes they don't help bloat no matter what they say. If I could go back I would never have started them but now find if I stop I bloat more - and was told once you start them it is hard to go back to how you were
No, I have the reverse, I have lost 3 stones in weight. Not sure what is worse weight gain or weight loss? I hate the way I look now and have had to buy a new wardrobe. After trying gluten-free, low FODMAP, high fibre, low fibre diets, I am no better and don't know what to put in my mouth. Tried many supplements and different OTC things, all to no avail. I would not have thought your age would come into it personally, good luck.
IBS is not supposed to cause weight loss but in my case I find I can't eat a lot at one time because of bloating and wind - therefore I am not eating the food I used to eat and so must put it down to change of diet and insufficient calories.
I struggle to lose weight despite suffering from IBS, it's 1 of those things I would like to do, but can't & makes me feel bad about myself
