This is Sky. I AM suffering right now from IBS C. WITH THE IBSC,I HAVE GOTTEN REAL HOT IN MY FACE. I am 63. SO ITS NOT MENOPAUSE. HAS ANYBODY EXPERIENCED HOT FLASHES IN THE FACE WHILE UNDER AN IBS FLARE UP?
My Doctor Wants me to take my temperature when it happens again. It happened to me several times on 3 different nites for about 3 min. MY FACE STARTS TO GET RED HOT AND I TRY NOT TO PANIC. I GET IT AT NIGHT,WHILE I AM SITTING UP IN BED. IT COMES A FEW HOURS AFTER TAKING MY FIBER AND LAXATIVE. I TAKE IT AND MIX IT WITH ALMOND MILK AND WATER AND ONE HANDFUL OF BLUEBERRIES. THE ALMOND MILK IS MOSTLY FILTERED WATER.
DOES ANYONE THINK THIS CAN BE AN ANXIETY REACTION TO MY IBS C?
Has this happened to anyone else? Please give me your thoughts.
I hope all of you are doing well today. It is 3pm here in the US.I guess its about midnite in England?
Thank You Very Much.
Signed,
Suffering Sky.

Hi sky babe I get that in the night my face burns up but I dont think its ibs flare up it just cums on you that ibs is a horrible condition yur never with out pain wen the food goes down & if yur like me never far from the toilet them spasms are so painfull but you just put up with them till they pass but coeliac disease has the same symptoms as ibs so to be safe hun get tested for it dont do wat I did left it for yrs thinking it was ibs untill I got so ill & lost so much weight & needed a blood transfusion becouse they said I had severe anemia brought on by not getten the right nutrients & eaten gluten so take care & be safe patricia
I will be sure to tell my doctor about this right away. Its weird, the hospital said I was tested for celiac. It came out negative. But I dont remember the test.
I am 101 lbs and only 5'1~
Now,my doc wants me to gain weight. I am a little concerned now that I heard from you.
Hi skyrooms patricia here its best to rule out coeliac becouse it can go on damagen your intestines without you nowen untill you get so ill & lose so much weight like I thought it was ibs for a lifetime& suffered really bad babe so take care & be safe patricia
I sent my doctor your post to me. THANKS. I ASKED HER TO RETEST ME FOR EVERYTHING.I AM worried about my weight. In The second year of IBS,I LOST CLOSE TO 50 lbs.
How can you test for Celiac disease if you dont eat wheat? I heard a rumor about that.
Hi sky rooms how are you babe I am a fraid the only way to test for coeliac disease is to eat wheat & gluten otherwise the test will show up negative like my sister it went on for yrs but gluten intolerance isent the same as coeliac becouse you just cud be gluten & wheat intolerance but coeliac is a autoimmune disease that attack it own tissue when eaten gluten & its a vicious circle becouse ibs is the same horrible spasms that leave you so weak but you lose stones in weight with coeliac disease becouse you get starved of the right nutrients you need to stay healthy so do find out if it is coeliac or gluten intolerance but I dont think you lose weight with being gluten intolerance so first find out what it could be first before you put yur self through some horrible tests be safe patricia
Hi Sky, I have much the same thing. Plus a lot of other wonderful other IBS symptoms. I get really hot at night that my scalp feels like it's burning up and starts sweating. At the same time, I can feel my intestines kind of gurgling. I keep asking my doctor about it and it's not menopause because it lasts a long time, several minutes at a time! Apparently, hot flashes are much faster. Anyway, my doctor says it's because of all the nerve endings around the intestines and the parasympathetic nervous system reaction, the fight or flight impulse. I don't quite understand why it only happens at night, while I'm laying down, like in your situation.
However, it's much better than the instant migraines and incredible fatigue that accompanies it. I've been to many restaurants where I've suffered an attack and had to be carried out to my car and driven home. It's a pretty bad reaction.
IBS really stinks. I wish I could have some of my intestines removed. Maybe it would get better. As it stands, I have to take two different medications because one alone won't help.
