IBS- D/C
Does anyone have recommendations for what to eat on a bad diarrhoea day ?
I’m so fed up with having a ‘wasted’ day at least once a week
Immodium helps but then when I eat something it’s back to the toilet again

Foods to eatWhile recovering from diarrhea, a person should eat bland, simple foods that are easy to digest and will help absorb some water from the stool.
Bland foods
People with diarrhea should eat bland foods, as spicy or complex foods can irritate the bowels. Bland foods that may help with diarrhea include:
hot cereals, such as oatmeal, cream of wheat, or rice porridge
bananas
applesauce
plain white rice
bread or toast
boiled potatoes
unseasoned crackers
Hope this helps ?

Many thanks I think I’m really getting worn down now - and am guessing COVID anxiety isn’t helping
Rice Krispies & rice milk
Plain white Jasmine RiceProtein
Carrots
The idea is to temporarily cut out fibre.
Hi.... when having an ibsd day I eat white toast, banana and plain baked potato. That usually helis me to get back to some kind of 'normality'. Cant tolerate oats as they make me worse..but thats just me. Rice crispies with lacto free milk are ok for me as well.am not coeliac but for me lacto free and gluten free foods are gentler on my system. Good luck. Keep us updated x
So kind of you all to help me. Thank you so much. Never even thought about rice crispies - love them !! I find i have a bad day about once a week - is this normal ?
Saying that I went for 2 weeks over Xmas and thought I'd cracked it but then it came back with a vengeance
😪
I have to be careful all the time just now..just starting to re-introduce 'normal' food in very small quantities. Think everyone is different but we are all in agreement that IBS is a very debilliating condition. Its good to be able to compare on here...makes us feel we are not alone with this. Keep safe x
Yes it’s good to be able to chat I’m still waiting for a colonoscopy but the specialist said he was pretty sure it was IBS so I’m treating it accordingly as heaven knows when I’ll get a colonoscopy
I’ve got all the symptoms it would seem but I do luckily have good days in between the bad
I just can’t believe it came on so suddenly over the summer - one day I was perfectly ok and the next ..... I wasn’t
Then I had weeks of my GP telling me I was too old (66) to start with IBS so obviously feared the worst but all my blood and stool tests have come back negative thankfully
I think anxiety is a big factor for me - and everyone else I guess ?
I’m still new to all this though so am just so grateful for all the help
Yes I do feel anxiety has a big part ti play..in my case anyway. Living through this pandemic is difficult and plays on my mind a lot of the time. Hopefully after this year we can all get back to some kind of 'normality'. I try to meditate and do deep breathing when i feel stressed...it helps. As i get older i tend to worry more which doesnt help. Keep us posted x
hi i was sure i had bowel cancer . all the classic symptoms but no blood 15 times aday diarrhea , lost 2 stone and then going in the night , ive had ibs for 35 years , take alverine theyre very good and was sure it was the big 1. thank goodness it wasnt it was put down to stress and meds still got it now, even worse after 2 heart attacks, take care
Debillitating
The worst part of a colonoscopy is the prep before hand. Also can people bare in mind that one man's meat is another man's poison. The most common problems for IBS is dairy and gluten. Cut out one thing at a time for at least a week. Good luck. I'm still trying to make sense of it all.
