I have IBS-C. Constipation is chronic. I'm on Constella to combat this. My IBS nurse is great, she's sent off stool samples as I have alternating bowel habbits (mainly constipation but sometimes Diorrehra). I have a lot of very very dark blood in my stools. I'm so so fatigued/tired all the time too. Anyway, the test for bowel cancer came back fine so I'm relieved to hear that. But they've had to re test my Fecal Calprotectin as my nurse said they just didn't test the first one for some reason. I had a Laparoscopy on the 22nd of March as I have a lot of gynae problems too. They didn't find anything gynae related, but they said my bowel is impacted. Anyway. To cut a long story short, I'm going to contact my IBS nurse on Monday as I'm not due to see colorectal consultant till end of April. I'm so worried they will find nothing, I can't go on with this suffering. I'm seeing a private gynaecologist in a few weeks, as I do think this is all related. But I'm so worried they won't find anything and I'll have to just live with this pain. 😭 Sorry for the rant.

Rant away Rhiannon-Yes, us ladies do see to have double trouble is it something Gynae or Gastro and it may be one affecting the other. This is only my opinion Rhiannon but as you have had a Lap already and they could not find anything, I would have gone Private to a Gastro and get him/her to do a colonoscopy that would put your mind at rest about possible bowel conditions as anything to do with blood in the stool should be investigated. It could be a case of piles as you have IBS-C but you need to find out. Once you get a proper diagnosis I am sure there will be a way forward to control your pain. Keep us posted how you get on.
Thanks. There seems to be no end. I am seeing a Gastro end of April. Don't know what they'll do. With regards gynaecology, I'm getting a second opinion as there is problems with being intimate (TMI I know), chronic bleeding afterwards etc which is not normal.
I've had 2 scopes in the past (colonoscopy and flexi sig) and they showed nothing. Hoping my IBS nurse will be able to help.
Very sorry you are so miserable at moment. Keep talking to doctor - I'm sure you can get something sorted. If you're impacted, they could help. Good luck xx
I take chlorella tablets it's from fresh water algae and 5 grams is 10 tablets so i take 5 grams in the morning before a meal and 5 grams at dinner before or after a meal.
It really helps me with bowel movements , check it out on Google , all the best!
I am so sorry to hear your suffering. I have very similar symptoms. I was too on Constella, but pushed by bowel habits to the other end, severe d. I am now trying to manage with laxatives, but no imorovements yet. Are you trying to exercise at all? I do a mini video every morning (Lucy Wyndham-Read), she’s really motivating. Good luck with your tests. Fingers crossed. X
Thanks everyone. Unfortunately I can't really over excersise much atm due to my FND flaring. I manage short bouts of swimming and yoga occasionally. 😊 I've tried changing diet but to no avail. Hopefully they'll investigate. Xx
Good luck I do feel for you as I know how ibs impacts our lives. I sometimes feel so isolated and it’s not everyone you can talk to about these things that are happening with our bowels. I keep going back and forth to my dr as I always have pain in my right side deep in the pelvis. Had a total abdominal hysterectomy 4 yrs ago and haven’t been the same since. My bowel is very long and torchous so constipation is predominantly my issue. I’m on a low fodmap diet and find this helps but I still have ongoing issues. When I get my bowels moving and empty out the pain then sets in to the point I have to take Brufen paracetamol and codeine and then of course that mix doesn’t do good for constipation!!! I feel so frustrated at times. It’s really good to be able to be part of this group fir support.
So sorry to hear you're going through similar issues. It's so unfair that people have to go through this awful illness. And I don't think people realise just quite how debilitating it can be. It's so nice to have a support network in the form of this group. 😊 Hope you're keeping okay, and thanks for the kind words. Xx
Hi thanks for your kind words and support. I find the hardest part is not getting off track when I feel good. Somtimes I’m feeling so good and have no symptoms so inevitably I forget the bad times and guaranteed to get off track. Not a good outcome!!!
My IBS nurse has been able to bring my appointment with colorectal surgeon forward to 18th April, really relieved, a Dr I've never seen before but he has a special interest in bowel conditions and is the clinical lead of Colorectal Cancer at Wishaw General so should be a good Dr lol for 😊
Hi all. Thought I'd update on this sub as you all wanted to know. I'm getting botox on my fissure as it's not healed, as well as a full colonoscopy under a general anaesthetic. Colorectal consultant wants to check that there's nothing more serious going on due to symptoms I'm getting. Should be end of June/beginning of July. 😊 X
