Had colonoscopy today and have quite advanced diverticula disease . Doc found stricture and a bit of twisting . Didn’t say much just take low fiber diet and laxatives ! Mentioned resection casually ..... will that be necessary ? Can structure right itself

Hi, I would take a good probiotic. They can start regulating the gut and reducing inflammation. Maybe also a supplement called L Glutamine this can start to heal the mucous lining .
having a resection is not a scary as it sounds, idealy you should be on a short term course of prednislone to see if it reduces anything. But unfortunately for a twist and stricture it usually means having to have a resection
they should wait for around roughly two weeks to see if this diet works for you, if you know nothing about a low fibre diet it would be best to talk to your GP or a dietician about this as their cam be sum really confusing stuff on the internet, I wish you all the best Jo
