I have recently been diagnosed with SIBO on the basis of a very high hydrogen breath test. I am due to have a consultation with the private practitioner I am seeing in about 3 weeks but I wondered whether anyone has experience of successfully treating SIBO and what you did - antibiotics, probiotics, diet, supplements or a combination?
PS - I also thought it worth mentioning that I raised the possibility of SIBO (which I had read about on this forum) with both my doctor and my GI specialist at the hospital and both refused to test for it as i don't have diarrhea so they said I can't have SIBO. So i paid for a test privately as they could not tell me what was causing my digestive problems and all the treatment they have given me has been ineffective. So, please don't be put off if you don't have "classic" SIBO symptoms. I think that our bodies can react differently to bacteria and if you have otherwise unexplained problems with your stomach, bowel etc then SIBO should be checked for.
