Relief at last

Hi all just a note to say I started on Silicol Gel a week ago in sheer desperation after seeing it advertised. For the first time since my holiday I feel human I know it may not suit everyone as all symptoms are different but so far it's working for me so may be worth a go. It's not cheap but if it helps....

Happy New year to all.

That's great news. I tried it a few years ago but didn't help me. Just shows how different we all are. I hope it continues to help you.

Thanks Maureen it may or may not help in the long term but I'll enjoy the respite for now. I'm also attending an anxiety workshop which may also have some effect - writing stuff down seems to be cathartic. Best wishes.

That is interesting. I have heard it mentioned..but not sure exactly what this is..if a laxative, unsure..will have to "Google it" to see what it is. Can I ask what you are taking it for?

Hi I'm taking it for "classic" IBS symptoms pain, cramps and also reflux. Some say it is best for ibs-d but I suffer with ibs-c in the main and it's not made the constipation any worse so ok for now. Just not to have the band of cramps and rotten acid is bliss even if it only lasts for a short time. Good luck with everything.

Thanks, doing research on it now..but think it may just be another snake oil remedy..let us know how you get on..

It coats the stomach apparently there are also a few other products out there that are supposed to do the same.

Boots or Holland and Barrett it's not cheap but if it works it's worth every penny- about £8.99 for 200mls.

Tell me more about this product! And tell me what relief it gives you specifically. Such as, does it relieve bloating and gas or eliminate pain? Or does it help the bowels move in a natural manner? Yes, everything that works tends to be expensive but compared to a lifetime of endless pain, it would be worth the relief, if it works. The million dollar question is this...is it only available in the UK? I'm in the US.

Hi all of the above for me I suspect my condition may not be as bad as some people on here but, nevertheless I still suffer. The bloating and pain go with minimal gas. I'm sorry I don't k ow if it's available in the US there is another product called Kolanticon which is similar. Silicol have their own website so may be worth looking at that for stockists. Good luck!!

I’ve used it for about a month now for IBS-d and can cautiously say I haven’t had an episode since....

Having had a couple of years with almost constant diarrhoea when I ate, I am keeping my fingers tightly crossed. Hope it continues to work for you
