Hello everyone I'm a Newbie on this forum and I'm currently suffering with diabetic IBS, sitting now with hot water bottle trying to ease my aching back and sides (which I'm hoping are effects of stomach problem and nothing new to have to deal with) anyway I was wondering if anyone is on or has done the FODMAP. Being diabetic and having this IBS newly diagnosed I'm struggling to find what I can and can't eat without setting stomach off.
Thank you for reading ❤️

I found the fodmap is good if used as a guide for starters. Keep a food diary, there are a few apps that work well for this as they plot good and bad days on a graph. Don’t feel you have to adhere to it by the letter forever. It takes some fine tuning and you may find some bad items don’t affect you. For example, they say not to touch onions. I’m ok with them but leeks are a no go. My main trigger seems to be high fructose corn syrup which can crop up in many things. Look into digestive enzymes and pro biotics too. After a while on the fodmap you should at least get an idea of your main triggers. Best of luck.
Thanks for replying, at the moment it seems everything I eat sets it off. Onions, spices, tomato based items,This all started when I had to much cheese and truthfully I'm frightened to do the lchf incase the high fat items bring the excruciating pain back.....
Mozart & Tigga have been enjoying all the extra toys (Christmas decorations) and are looking forward to the big man coming, their stockings are hanging on their beds and I'm sure there's a few pressies for them around the tree😺 ... Spoilt haha. I'm sure Baby is treat just the same ❤️
My IBS is flaring up too, probably because of my high stress. When I was first diagnosed with ibs, I did a very strict fodmap. For 2 weeks I did not gluten, dairy, alcohol, basically anything processed I cut out. And it worked! I felt so much better. Then I started incorporating some things back into my diet. Would sometimes have cheese, maybe bread (I try and do gluten free and dairy free when I can). I just would never over do it and would never have it every day. It was also dairy that is what set mybjbs off. I had a huge slice of cheesecake which never used to bother me, did. It killed my stomach. So annoying. I do support the fodmap though. It was really helpful. But know eventually, you can have other things you just can't over do it or have it as often. But really it's about finding what works best for your stomach.
Thank you for replying, I'm sorry to hear yours is flaring up hopefully it will calm before Christmas. I've cut cheese from from life as it all started with that😔 and I now know of a couple of items that set things off, thinking my next step is cut down on bread and potatoes. 😔
