Morning all I hope you’re well. I’ve been IBS tortured for about two and a half months now and it’s driving me crazy, SO I’m going to the doc today (again) to discuss the Low Fodmap Diet, I was just wondering if anyone on here had tried it, and if it worked xx

Yes, I have been on it for a while. It has helped about 70%. It is best to do it with a fodmap trained dietician and be quite strict. There is a helpful book by Patsy Catsos, available on Amazon. Initially, it takes some effort and planning, but then gets easier. Good Luck.

I have been on it since May, hasn’t helped me as much as I’d like but I know it has about a 80% success rate! It’s tough to do, frustrating and you will definitely have your ups and down, but if it works it can help you so much. Always good to try all the options.

TY for answering, Doc said this morning that it benefits 3 in 4 people with IBS seems like you’re the fourth SophieC22, which is a shame, I’m willing to try as of Monday as this bout is never ending and is driving me crazy xx

I use one of the FODMAP apps to help me decide what to eat, and it’s very helpful. I also take probiotics and peppermint oil, plus adding oat fibre to my morning cereal. It’s not perfect, but I now very rarely have to rush to the loo in the middle of the day.

I think you’ll find that some ‘low’ FODMAP foods are still a problem for you - and you are IK with a few ‘high’ ones, but in general, it’s pretty accurate.

Hope that helps!

Within 2 days of starting the low FODMAP diet my diarrhoea and stomach aches had stopped! Amazing! Top tips- download the FODMAP app - created by Monash who invented the low FODMAP diet, it’s a really useful tool. It’s not free but worth every penny. Also try the cara tracking app (free) - a really useful tool for tracking your food and related symptoms. It’s been invaluable. Garlic infused oil was a god send as I missed my onions and garlic! Good luck!

I got both the apps Row99, both seem very good and I’m sure very helpful. I’m off to the supermarkets shortly to start x
