Has anyone else felt with their constipation like they are passing glass. The past few days I’ve been constipated and it’s hurt a little when I go. I’m now really stressing as hate being unwell and would hate to think it was anything serious. Please if anyone else has had this, do let me know. Thanks

Sore to poop
Hi Kate - I have exactly this. For me it is hemorrhoids so medically trivial but boy is it painful when they flare up. Please don't be embarrassed and go and see your GP - they have seen it all before and after a minute's physical exam it should put your mind at rest (and other things can be ruled out) and they can proscribe more effective treatment than available over the counter.
Yep - have had this - it can be to straining on the loo with constipation. It can also be due to passing hard stools. Your doctor should be able to prescribe you something to soften stools so water is absorbed. I find fibre gel helps in drink sachets with vitamins c in flavours. (Isphagula husk.) Others sprinkle it over cereal or porridge. Anusol( 0ver the counter) helps the skin round the anus which becomes sore. There is also a cream for hemorrhoids .Get help soon!
See your GP To check it out. I have had this and it was a small anal fissure which is like a cut in your skin....very painful as it opens up. It was treated with some cream which allows you to pass without clenching up in pain and therefore heals more quickly. Obviously the other advice about keeping the stools soft is good.
Hi, I suffer with pain everytime I go, I don't have to be constipated. I have diverticulitis, and a nattowing, inner hemoroids too uggggh. Horrible.
Yes, I have this often..and find that I get this after I eat Fiber..such as nuts, grapes, sunflower seeds. I try to have a low fiber diet. But sometimes gas can mean your body is getting ready to pass stool or needs to. When you have gas, try to use the bathroom. Drink a lot of water too, will help the stool pass.
Know what you mean about the gas - have found I have wheat intolerance and eat oat biscuits but some firms have disclaimers to say even if the recipe is for oats there might be some wheat in. It's to do with the processing of some foods. I have to use fibre gel which helps when I get spasmodic IBS. I also cut out fibrous foods which might affect the gut. I have a prescription for the fibre gel sachets with vitamin C, but only use them when get symptoms of IBS. Peas ,sweet corn, and bran are off the menu as is brown bread - which I used to eat before I had a multi grain allergy. When you get gas and bloating sometimes there is nothing there to pass. It's then I know to take the fibre gel.
Expect you should ask your doctor if they will prescribe you something to help.
I have been very disappointed with the three Gastros I have gone too..that I have now given up. They want me to take Fiber supplements, fiber does not work for everyone, and it just backs me up more from all the bulk. Stool has to travel..up..up our colons so when fiber is added, it adds bulk, and then the stool is too big for such as narrow anal opening which is the size of a quarter. I tried Citrucel..kind of like a gel fiber supplement, and it made my stools a sticky mess..and all that sticky gel sticks to your glass. I was just put on Trulance, but it is very much like Linzess that did not work for me. Miralax made me cramp badly. Only thing that helps me is strong coffee with Stevia sweetener, and Senna-lax.
I guess you have tried newer types of fibre supplements which don't agree with you. The gel Citrucel sounds citric which might upset your gut leading to a sticky scenario.
I have a pal online who suffers from celiac disease - she has a gluten allergy. Gluten can damage the colon. She went on a gluten free diet, but there was not much improvement.
I suggested to her after a year that she might have multi grain allergy and others that she did not know about- lo- she went to Alphega chain which do a smart test which takes a finger prick test which takes a few minutes. The results are run by the pharmacist through the computer and within an hour - ten minutes going over health history - five minutes for smart blood test, and then an hour later for the pharmacist to process the results of over 65 foods to give you information on why your gut is reacting. Having had similar problems for over fifty years, it was a miracle that within a few days my gut felt better.
You might find you can get food allergy tests in your area for free, but the cost of the test was under 71 pounds, so it was the best present ever. If you have not already had this test done, it might help you. I screened out all the foods even if they were mildly indicated.
If I was to have a bet with you - I bet you will find food allergans you never realised as no tests are offered. My friend went to a gastro specialist over months but no food allergen tests were offered! May be it is worth going down this route as I thought I was eating healthily with cottage cheese, rice, bananas but found I had allergies to all these foods and many more.
