Had a bad few days
Sorry to hear you're in pain, I can fully sympathize... I'm experiencing an episode myself too.
I'm in two minds when I get a flare up whether to eat nothing until the symptoms have gone away or just eat normally.
I'm thinking that if I keep away from food while having an episode , the symptoms will subside more quickly than if I eat, as I think eating seems to make the symptoms more prolonged.
Does anyone agree or disagree?
John
Hello Gail! Hi John as well. In my experience, it seems to be better if you eat, but eat small and light. Gotta keep those intestines primed. So, it's really cool if you google ibs videos and how the intestines look when they are "out of rhythm". There's kind of a cartoon one that shows the gut angry and having spasms. Check it out. That explains the stomach pain. So, imagine if we put nothing in there, of course the stomach pain will go away, but then we are certainly malnourished as well. Try things like yogurt or cottage cheese. I can remember when I found out about raw vegetables (that was a Subway sandwich), I think I went to the bathroom 8 or 9 times the next morning before eating anything else and even saw a bit of blood. Italian food is the same if there is a lot of seasoning. I found that out with a Stouffers lasagna. Same issue, except MUCH more pain and IMMEDIATELY. Bananas were my best friend for a while. Every person is different. I would not judge you for a minute if you chose not to eat to avoid the pain. We've all been there.
Bungiecat have you had testing done?
Yes I have had all tests done I was advised to stay away from most veg to eat fruit instead and I use my tens machine to control the pain it even works to help me loose inches of my waist and helping me loose weight the last few days sunce using machine I have had no symptoms and being able to eat more Gail
