Is there anyone who reads these posts who is qualified to give an answer to questions raised on here? I would really like to know if IBS is somehow related to having sensitive skin. This is really a problem for me and i would like to find out if IBS is anything to do with it. I have COPD as well and i have found out its not related to my inhalers. Any nurses or doctors out there that keep an eye on this site ?

Sensitive Skin
No one here is qualified to give medical advice or opinions. Have you seen a dermatologist?
I am not a nurse or a doctor. However I have fully recovered from chronic IBS.
I noticed that IBS was related to the body becoming very sensitive/reactive in general. I became more and more sensitive to food (and had Candida) - but also chemicals, perfumes, nail varnish. I no longer have any of this. I opened up to the causes being not just physical ones, but that my mind, body, emotions and energy work together. Which means that the physical symptoms can be an expression of something that is off elsewhere.

Thank you. I will have a look. I see a doc today and i now have cream and tablets .
I suffer from both IBS & psoriasis, but I don't know if they're connected to each other
Thanks for replying . Have you ever wondered if they are connected. My skin problem has happened after i found out i have IBS . Was that the same for you ?
When I first got the IBS, over 20 years ago, it was initially diagnosed as Crohn's, & I've since been told that Psoriasis is a symptom of Crohn's. But when I asked my specialist, he said there are many reasons why people get psoriasis & not just because of Crohn's. He didn't mention any link to IBS though
That is interesting as my husband has Crohn's disease too he also had a bad phase of skin problems at one stage. I do realise that Chrohn's is much more serious than IBS but both are bowel related. I am beginning to think that sensitive skin or skin allergies are connected somehow. Kind regards to you.
You say Crohn's is more serious but I think it's an individual thing. My specialist said he's known people with Crohn's Disease who are generally fine, & people with IBS who suffer really badly. I thin it very much depends on the individual symptoms
I know of a few other people who have Crohn's but can only go on my hubby's symptoms. I didn't stop to think of different seventies of Chron's and IBS . You are right everyone has different levels of symptoms. Thanks for pointing this out to me. Kind regards to you.
Hi Jill, I have had IBS for about 2 years; previously, around 5 years ago I suffered from several analphalactic shocks. Docs unable to diagnose what foods or other products may be causing it. I have the most sensitive skin, especially my face, chest and my eyes. I now have blepharitis (red eyes) which I am also managing now too. My skin conditions have been very severe over the years, chronic irritations, rashes, phsorisis on soles of feet only, prickly heat etc etc. I have an epipen for the analphalaxsis, but still don't really know hats causing all these things. I personally believe that the is so much rubbish, e's additives in foods that I do everything myself from scratch, am trying to avoid lactose and wheat. I read all labels when am shopping and it's such a pain. I am not medically qualified but hopefully I will eventually be able to pinpoint exactly what causes my IBS.
Not sure if that will help you at all, but something to consider. Lots of luck, Jacky
Thank you so much for your reply. At the moment i am putting cream on my skin four times a day and its a pain in the butt. The itching hasn't gone but i must admit its not as bad. This is all very new to me. But i do believe the ibs is somehow connected to this irritation i have. Good luck to you . You have this problem much more seriously than me . I do wish you well . x
H Jill, thanks for reply. It may seem as f I am an old hand at all this but I am 58 and everything started when I was around 53; weird, as I didnt realise that these allergies and irritations could start at such a mature age. I don't use soap or shower gels anymore, just stuck using boring dermol 500; which has helped a lot. Still, it's good to talk and good luck to you too. Xx
