Hi folks
Nearly 4 weeks into the FODMAP diet and our garden has fab crop of wild garlic. Given on FODMAP you can eat the green bits of Spring Onions and Leek I'm wondering if the same applies to Wild Garlic? Any thoughts? Anyone tried?

Hi Eucalyptus, As with many things on this forum, I guess it is suck it and see, or trial and error in other words. We had some wild garlic a few days ago, I used it in an omelette and in salads with no problem at all. It is a shame not to take advantage of this fantastic stuff. It is also very nutritious.
If you're finding the FODMAP diet is helping and that you can tell when something you eat disagrees with you, then I'd agree with what BabsyWabsy said - suck it and see. But if you're finding your symptoms confusing still and not sure what triggers you and what doesn't, then I'd be cautious - I know my dietitian would have said if it's not on the ok list for low-FODMAP foods, then don't go there IF you're still doing a trial to see if low FODMAP helps or not. The worst it's going to do is give you temporary symptoms, it's not doing you any long-term harm, but what it does is put the results of the trial in question. But at the end of the day, even if you are still on a low FODMAP trial period, it's up to you whether putting the results in question are worth it or not; you can always restart the trial and do another x weeks if you think you've messed it up. And it's sure yummy!
Thanks for the advice folks.
