IBS or Gastritis or HRT?

I was Diagnosed with IBS 8 year ago & started the menopause 3 year ago (aged 50) since starting HRT - Femoston 1/10 my IBS has been up & down but recently horrific. I’ve recently had a hysteroscopy, colonoscopy & Gastroscopy blood tests showed low ferritin levels & Gastroscopy showed ‘a thickened fold’ no idea what that means just got letter from consultant to say I need lanzoprazole 15mg twice a day for 5 weeks & ferrous fumarate for 3months. I feel shocking on these! Feel more gassy than ever, on toilet 3-5 times a day hungry all the time but no idea what to eat!!! The gyny who did hysteroscopy said i need to change to HRT patches (can’t get to see gp for 2 weeks to do this!) but now I’m wondering could it all be down to my HRT or is it this thickened fold? Anyone know what it is or had similar experiences?

I found my hrt made little or no difference to my ibs after my full hysterectomy.

I too suffer with low folate and have been given what I’d call iron tablets but some of these gave me horrendous stomach pains - so could it be that your reacting to your treatment?

Isn't ferrous fumarate iron supplements? They usually cause constipation.

I don't know about HRT but my hormones definitely effect my ibs so I'd say it could be that. I read something somewhere about oestrogen making ibs worse.

Go back to your Dr is probably best.
