Hi, everyone. My mother in law is 74 and is an IBS and restless leg syndrome sufferer. Because she also suffers from Alzheimer’s I believe her really painful RLS symptoms are not being addressed or treated properly. In fact, I don’t think her IBS has been properly diagnosed, as no tests have been done to exclude any other potential conditions, such as coeliac disease or a bacterial overgrowth. I would be grateful for some insights as to what the proper procedure for diagnosing IBS should be, and also any treatment options. I am particularly interested in hearing from anyone who also suffers from RLS, and to know if your doctor has confirmed the link with the IBS and given you any treatment options for it. Many thanks indeed!

Hi
I have RLS and now take magnesium at night and it helps a lot. Also be sure she is getting adequate potassium.

For me digestive enzymes probiotics and was treated for Candida- this helped me the most
