KimiJea UPDATE

Will1234 profile image
31 Replies

Following my last post on the Kimijea probiotic product, I have now used for one week.

As product info says that results should be noticeable after one week , I thought I would update the few people who have shown any interest.

I most certainly think that I have noticed definite differences. I still, at this stage, have gas after eating but much easier to pass it. Less pain, Less urgency and so far massive reduction on visits to loo. BM, s much more normal and proper stools, as opposed to watery diahorrea. Best product that I have tried and I have tried loads !!

The cost of the product is I think high, but despite this, I will continue for the 12 week course . I am not sure what to expect after the 12 weeks. Probably stop and see how I feel but apart from cost , I would happily continue with this product.

For me , this has been far better than any other product and way better than all the diets and fodmap offerings to resolve the IBS issues.

I hope I am not speaking out to early , but as the product advertises , a noticeable difference after one week of treatment.

I am stating simply , how this has been for me and I am not suggesting it is the cure for everyone. It is ,however, most certainly worth a try . I am certainly glad I have tried it despite the cost.

Normally if going out somewhere , I would take Imodium as a safety measure , then get bunged up and have pain , then take Fybogel to get to loo for relief. Often needed to get to loo urgently , particularly after eating.

Last week on the Kimijea , few problems , went out to golf and trips to shops on various occasions without any problems. Also no issues after meals. No urgent toilet dashes , yet not constipated , much better normal stools on toilet visits etc..

Feel, like what I imagine to be, like a normal person !!

I will leave it there for now and if anyone shows any interest , I will be happy to provide further updates.

From a 50 year sufferer !

Best regards

Yes please ... let us know. I am currently taking acidophilus which has improved my symptoms despite being diagnosed as not having sibo. If there is another product that may help than I would be interested to know. Thanks, keeping my finger crossed for you.

I hope it works for you. I will not say it is magic but a distinct change for the better .

Thanks so much for this info, really glad to hear this product seems to be working well for you and sincerely hope it continues. Do keep the updates coming. On the strength of what you've written so far, I now intend to give it a try myself.

Hi Will,

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to report back on the effectiveness of Kijimea. It is very valuable to hear of some real life experiences.

I’ve found my symptoms much improved since taking Acidophilus first thing in the morning, but do still get the odd unpredictable day, with gas rather than a diarrhoea problem.

I’ve been wondering about Kijimea and Alflorex for some time - have you tried Alflorex at all? It apparently guarantees the bacteria reaching the gut alive - don’t know if Kijimea refers to that?

I’d be very interested to hear of your longer-term experiences with Kijimea in the future.

Thanks again!

Hi one-n-den

I have not tried Alflorex . Will continue to update.

Thanks for reply

Will

in reply to one-n-den

Hi,

Just to say that I had to stop taking Alflorex at the weekend again - my second attempt - as it caused me to have even worse gas than normal. However, don't let that put you off as there have been several people posting on here for whom it seems to work well.

I've just ordered some Kijimea so will be giving that a go next. You just have to try everything, don't you?

Will1234 in reply to

Yes Cat, I think you have to give everything a try. Re Kijimea , I think that maybe I have had more gas. Not painful though and somehow different. Normally after my evening meal, at some point , I would have gas often painful and the next stage would be when this abject discomfort would lead to a dash to the loo and likely episode of " D". Going out to golf , for example, would be worrying and probably involve taking Imodium to try to ensure I would make it round without problem. Since taking this product my gut is much calmer , less pain and not the urgency of having to dash to the loo. Feels all more in control.

Please note though, it has only been one week of taking the product. I am trying not, to get too excited and seeing this as an IBS cure just yet. I hope it is and it has been very positive but my test has not really been anywhere near long enough.

I wish you good luck and really hope it is a good product for you.

No doubt , as this has produced a lot of interest , there will be lots of feed back and it would be great if it was all positive --no doubt though , it will not help everyone.

Best of luck

Will

Thank you f o r update. I have been waiting to hear your comments before trying this. It is very expensive, but my main concern has been fear of bad consequences. After trying so many supposed remedies with painful results I am very wary. My problem is quite the opposite from yours so it may not be so good for me, but worth a try. Like you, it has been 50 years of increasing misery for me too.

Will1234 in reply to Feaviour

Hi Feaviour,

It is expensive, just paid about £80 for 84 capsules today. As your problem is opposite to mine I am not sure how you will find it. If anything , it has made me a little bit constipated. It is supposed to work for IBS D and C , but can of course only comment on my own situation.

I would normally be reluctant to make any comments at all but with this product , so far I have noticed a marked improvement in my symptoms. Hope it works for you.

Hi Everyone,

Thank you all for your replies. There seems to be more interest in this product than I anticipated.

I have now started my second week of taking the capsules , two every night with evening meal. Other than some excess gas ,which is still a feature , the product is for me worth continuing.

I will continue to supply regular updates as I appreciate that I have only been using for one week and also the product is a bit expensive .

If anyone is contemplating a trial , I can say that in my case , I noticed a change , some improvement noticeable within a few days. It is therefore reasonable to suppose that a 2 week course, at around £28-£30 is likely to be sufficient , in order to determine if this will be of help to you.

If anyone has any questions I am happy to try to answer.

Thanks

Will1234

Hi there Will, thank you so much for reporting back and I am so pleased that things have improved for you using this. I know when you posted originally about this I said that I had seen this advertised in a magazine and researched it online and saw there were mixed reviews. It certainly sounds though like it working for you.

I would be very interested to hear how you are after the full 2 weeks - I'm not sure but I think that once you have completed the 2 weeks you then reduce the amount you take but I'm not 100% on that one.

Hi Alicia,

I will post an update in a week or so. I have today ordered more supply of the product ,as I plan to try the recommended 12 week course. Cannot see anything about reducing the dose though.

Thanks for your reply

Will

in reply to Will1234

Hi Will

Looking forward to seeing your updates and a shame that the dose cannot be reduced, just thinking about cost here. They do make money out of sufferers!!

All the very best.

Agreed Alicia.

I did email the company about the product . It is difficult to make a definite total statement .As I found it difficult to make total sense of the reply . Basically though , the company seem to advocate a course of between 4 and ideally 12 weeks of taking the product. Not really sure what you do after that.

I will cross that bridge when I come to it. I also mentioned the high cost but no comment was made in the reply.

My best advice at present , would be to try a 2 week supply for about £30.00 and see if it helps. If it does , then it really comes down to cost and what price is worth the benefit to health etc. If it does not work then the lose is capped at £30.00.

As I have now bought more I will just give my honest feed back on how it has gone for me. I just hope the positive feelings that I have continue .

All I can say is I feel better than I have for a very long while. My hope , is to be able to go out places, eat out etc . and not be feeling gut problems and wondering if I am going to have a sudden urgent attack and need to find a loo immediately.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Will

in reply to Will1234

Thank you Will for your reply and it certainly looks like it's working for you.

I'm not surprised they didn't comment on the cost though as at the end of the day they are making a profit and as we have both agreed they don't mind making money out of sufferers.

I have overhauled my diet a fair bit lately and have included quite a bit of exercise. I have also been working on a Programme called 'The Thrive Programme' for Emetophobia, the Programme also covers other anxieties. I feel because of working my way through the Programme it is helping me become more positive and therefore taking away some of the stress I was suffering which, in turn, is helping the condition.

I am though very interested to know how medication specifically for IBS works as so far there hasn't been anything I've taken that works completely, they just alleviate just a fraction.

Am really looking forward to your updates.

All the very best.

Alicia :)

Hi Alicia,

! think this product has certainly helped me , at least so far . As anxiety plays a part in IBS , I would not think it will be a total cure and certainly not, where IBS is caused through stress or anxiety.

If the anxiety is caused by the stress of an IBS attack , with perhaps related panic, then I think this med ., will perhaps help if it calms the gut and prevents attacks. If however, it is anxiety that occurs first and brings on an IBS attack, then I would doubt if a probiotic is going to be the answer. I have never been sure about the stress situation in terms of when it occurs and if it is a cause or effect. I certainly get worse with attacks if I am stressed or anxious. Could maybe a bit of both !

I will post an update at end of second week. After about 10 days I am still finding my IBS much improved and no sudden attacks etc. --and felt better .

Will

in reply to Will1234

Hi Will

Thanks very much for your further reply. Agree with you re anxiety as that would have to be tackled separately I feel with some kind of therapy like CBT and the Programme I am following. I have to say that life was so much easier when I was a child and young adult, we didn't have mobile phones, computers and any other kind of technology; life was far simpler. Also I feel that our health was much better as we didn't have the cars, shops were local so we didn't need cars, we went shopping every day - don't think I need to say more!

I am so pleased that this is working for you and it's very encouraging to hear some good news on here.

Looking forward to seeing how things are at the end of the second week.

Alicia :)

Hi Will, thanks for the info, I am very interest in your trial. I have suffered on and off for most of my adult life.(I am 66!) It has been much worse over the last ten or so years and I have really struggled at times. Like a few of your other replies have said, I have been taking Acidophilus for a year or so and have felt that it has helped me. (Much more than my doctor has!) I hope that the Kimijea continues to be positive for you. Yes it is expensive, but what price would we put on feeling like a 'normal' person?? I would rather give up something to be able to afford it, if it is of benefit.

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

Hi Angela,

Like you I have suffered for most of my adult life and I am 71 . I have tried various probiotics and in particular one from The Gut Doctor which was also expensive . It helped for a while initially on a very high dose but things tended to revert to my normal IBS symptoms.

My view is that so far this product has made me feel a lot better and as you say what price do you put on feeling normal and well.

Thanks for your reply and I will continue to provide further updates.

I looked at getting this but has maize starch in which I'm wary of so decided not to buy it but keen to hear all updates - if maize starch isn't affecting you well that's great but it is not good if you avoid gluten. Two I can really recommend are Healthspan Super20Pro (really good if you have constipation issues - visit website Healthspan.co.uk) and it is reasonably priced, Bioglan Biotic Balance is another good one (I had to stop this one as I wasn't sure whether it was rhamnosus or saccharomyces boulardii that didn't work so good on the constipation like Healthspan which was brilliant - not saying it's not good and I didn't go but felt didn't get the same kind of evacuation - sorry TMI. But it is one I would try again. Have you looked at Optibac - again their products are very good - just check to see what nasties are contained and if FOS is in them but their range has something for all conditions - worth a look and I again can recommend Every Day Extra Strength and Max Strength, Flat Tum they do one with extra fibre, one for women an UTI issues. Plus their back office support is brilliant - they will answer any question you give them and suggest alternatives etc.

Hi janetmtt,

Thank you for your reply. I have tried the Optibac product. I did not find it either positive or negative , just did not notice any change .

Thank you for the information . I will continue with Kimijea for a while and hope it continues to work.

Thanks again

So is it helping with the bloat and what about the maize starch - I avoid things with maltodextrin and the nasties in like potato starch, maize and corn starch etc. so keen to know how you are doing with maize starch in the product - any side effects

Will1234 profile image
Will1234 in reply to janetmtt

Hi janetmtt,

Just noticed your reply. Yes boating reduced. Still get some gas at times but less painful and it seems less trapped and easy to pass. That might be an early feature and change in time , we will see.

Sorry but I know absolutely nothing about maize starch . it is not something that I have ever come across . How would I know if this is an issue ? I assume that I would need to have removed it from diet and be aware of products containing it.

I doubt if this is an issue for me but who knows, sometimes when I have had a bad spell , I have thought almost anything consumed was a cause.

I am not sure how i can advise you other than to say that I cannot detect any side effects.

Thanks

Will

More of a problem you are gluten intolerant or celiac - perhaps do a bit of research and see if there are any side effects from it being in a supplement - I know I've missed out on so many good probiotics because they have maltodextrin in - and I keep thinking it's such a small amount sure it can't do much damage but when I've aske the question people say avoid as it can over time cause weight increase or give you other problems but then I think it's in so many supplements, not just probiotics - I can't see a nation of people suffering from taking it. It's a minefield isn't it. But if you are coping well and not having any other issues or not feeling the introduction of new ones I wouldn't worry about it. Have you ever found when taking probiotics that the first few days you seem to really go down in size then - me - I feel that my whole body seems to blow up - do you experience that - does anyone - I've just stopped taking L.Gasseri because it's supposed to help with leptin and appetite (but does nothing for the bloat nor pain) but I felt hungry all the time - and I did feel again after few days on it I was starting to blow up - that's why I'm going to try Artichoke - probiotics I feel don't seem after four years are getting rid of it. They say it's good for bloating, IBS, bowel issues and also cholesterol. Thank you for your reply and do keep us posted on progress - I am specially interested to see if your bloat does get better - did you bloat a lot?

Will1234 profile image
Will1234 in reply to janetmtt

Not really any bloating. Just some gas build up from time to time. . I don't get too into the ingredients, or technicalities of meds.--for me it either works or does not. If something causes me a problem then I might investigate what is in it and wonder if it something within that has caused it. Such as an IBS flare up.

I have basically come to the conclusion after having IBS for 50 plus years , that there are so many ingredients and chemicals in things , that it would take over my life checking everything. Might need to grow everything myself ! - I just don't have the time or inclination , if something upsets me, on more than one occasion , I just avoid it thereafter, or alternatively , accept the outcome if I decide to risk it. Possibly depends upon how bad the results are !

I can say that to date , Kimijea is not giving me any known side effects to date and continues to help. No sudden IBS attacks, or urgent needs to dash for a loo in the last 10days. Perhaps a slight tendency towards being a little constipated after first week of taking . Easily fixed with taking some Fybogel -soluble fibre.

Anything that stops me having gut pain and sudden urgency to get to the loo is great for me. I just want, like most of us , to be able to go out without constantly worrying about gut problems and where the nearest toilet is.

Thanks for your reply

Will

Totally agree with your views - I am sensitive so have to be careful but I am in two minds about the maltodextrin thing as I did buy a good probiotic that had to digestive enzymes in that could help but didn't take it for the maltodextrin. My problem is mostly horrendous bloating (it's bad today) and constipation - Bioglan was very good but it seemed to give me constipation issues. Do keep us posted on this Kimijea - I'd not heard of it until I saw it on here

Thank you Will for the info on your trial. I've been feeling awful since coming off low dose amitriptyline which had made life so much better. I was informed by my GP of research linking it's use with dementia so, after my own reseach I decided the risk was too great despite it's success. I've suffered IBS for most of my life (I'm 64) and have been feeling quite desperate finding myself in constant pain again and, the worst thing, unable to sleep.... You've given me hope, I shall take your advice and order a 2 week trial - fingers crossed!! Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience :)
