what might an endoscopy reveal?

The only test I haven`t yet had is an endoscopy and it hasn`t yet been suggested. I`m just wondering if it might reveal something significant. (I suspect that with IBS the problems are lower down and would show up on a sigmoidoscopy)

Hi janke,

Since the digestive system is basically just one long tube with twiddly bits, what happens at one end of it can affect the other more than you might think. It's worth asking for an upper endoscopy (gastroscopy) just to be sure nothing's happening there that shouldn't be.

Well for me, when I had mine it was to check for ulcers or possible growths. Ended up being clear for me, though!

Have the endoscopy. It can reveal a lot. I had one and now I know I have Barretts Esophagus, a small hiatal hernia, and h-pylori which I had to take pylera to get rid of it.
