Wild lettuce and frustration at differing and conflicting advice from doctors and no follow up after tests

I recently viewed a video on YouTube about wild lettuce as a natraul remedy and pain killer. I have purchased some as I want to reduce the eight or so prescriptions im on.

Has anyone else tried this to help? And if so what did you think of it?

So I have recently been told by one doctor that I should not be on pain killers as I have a functionality issue with the bowel and that I should see the chronic pain team. But guess what they were the ones who put me on the pain killers. It's like the doctor had read my notes.

So I get sent for a colonoscopy and a capsuloscopy I have the procedure and get told I will get a follow up after the results and biopsies are in. So I said and wait and hear nothing. I get sent to A&E by my GP to be told Ohh you have colitis unsurprisingly I had not been told. As it was thought it was not a server infection I didn't need a follow up. Another colonoscopy I get told by the doctor doing the pocedure I have colitis yet again. This time I do get a follow up and I see a different doctor he thinks I don't have colitis and it looks like prolapse. So to rule out small bowel issues I have a Capsule-oscopy. 6 months later no follow up so I contact PALs and 2 months latet a paragraph response saying it is most likely a functional issue and I need to be referred to the pain team.

Is this normal to be fobbed off or ignord. Has anyone else experienced similar if so what did you do to get the results and answers you need or entitled to.

Ask to be checked for prolapse - ask for a proctogram (don’t think a colonoscopy will particularly show a prolapse). If you have a prolapse it needs to be managed differentlyj, and I don’t think a pain clinic is the best way to go until they have found out definitively what’s causing the problem.

With a prolapse you would probably end up seeing a colorectal surgeon (or a gynae surgeon - if you are female) not a gastroenterologist.

Good luck.

Hi there,

If you read between the lines, they just don't know. And it is extremely frustrating. The problem with modern science is that they treat people as if they were just a body. But we are not. Our minds, bodies, emotions and energy are all part of us and work together.

Pain can be rooted in unsuspecting places. I had chronic IBS for a number of years and was passed from specialist to specialist and came to the same conclusion. They had no clue what was going on.

I no longer have IBS. I learned to understand it and heal from it. You may find some articles on my blog can help you move forward: SickofIBS.com
