Bought cakes and mince pies!

I have had IBS for couple of years now, mainly caused by fibre, which is mostly under control. Does anyone know why bought cakes etc. have an effect, not diarhea but feeling horrid, headache, nausea and grumpy!?

There are a lot of preservatives in shop bought cakes that's why they have such a long shelf life. I get on quite well using gluten free flour for sponge type cakes but fruit cakes aren't so good so have had to make my Xmas cake with normal flour.

That's what I thought but the fact that my IBS is basically fibre, I wasn't sure. Yes home made is fine. Thank you
