IBS Pain - switched sides?? Right sided tenderness/rib pain...

Since mid January I've been experiencing low left abdominal pain. This worsened on bending and I've had a tough couple of months. Ended up at the GPs and was sent for ultrasound scan on abdomen and pelvis. Also had a battery of blood tests. I got the all clear from both of these and the pain is now a lot easier and a lot less frequent. HOWEVER! I am now experiencing right sided pain which I've never had before (had IBS 30+ years off and on). It's around my waist, in my side. It's so tender to touch, almost like it's bruised and it is also affecting my ribs. I'm convinced I can feel a slight swelling also so am getting panicky

Surely if I had a scan just over a week ago, they would have picked up anything nasty???

Is this just a new area of pain for my IBS?

The only thing commented on in my scan was a 'contracted gall bladder' but the GP was not concerned by this.

Any help/advice please? It's really worrying me

See your GP he can easily reassure you

hi , I also have the symptoms you describe , pain in ribs and tender to touch , it is called hepatic flexture syndrome if it is right sided pain and spenic flexture syndrome if it is left sided , basically it is trapped wind in the colon and can be very painful , but it is part of ibs , hope this helps and helps ease your worry . god bless .

I just wanted you to know that you are not alone I get this too and it is painful I believe its gas or the tightening is caused by anxiety which I suffer with too.
