I have every sympathy for you Margaret. I am currently trying a lactose free diet ,and it definatly helps with my well being, although the jury is out on the wind side of things. I have also been gluten / wheat free for a couple of years now, and although I am definitely better than I was 6 months ago , I still have bad bouts wind, which can keep me up at night, not to mention the embarrassment during the day ! I have tried charcoal tablets to little effect, so I may go to my GP to ask for simeticone, which helps with gas. Or you could try ginger or pepermint tea, the latter which I take is ok , but not completely effective.
Let me know how you get on.
Thanks for your advice. Think I would try anything to not have stomach ache any more. I also seem to get quite a lot of back ache but doc does not seem concerned.
Hi Marbil, I've had chronic IBS now for about 6-7yrs,and I understand how you feel. I've every diet, tablet and tests ther are to try,and nothing has any effect. I do find once I'm asleep it does not wake me up. My Gastrologist thinks it's a dysfunctional bowel,so nothing to do with food intolerance. But you may be different and if I were you rather than go on the Fodmap diet,I would just take something you eat regulary out of your diet for 2wks if no change try something else. I say to do it this way round because when I done the Fodmap diet I was really ill and I think that's because it's so restricting that I probly missed out on some vitamins. Best of Luck and Take care
