Cows milk has a1 protein in it.. which is what some react to.. milk from jersey cows has a2 protien in it.. alot find this better.
Supermarkets sell A2 milk now.
Some people lack lactase enzymes so cant digest lactose.
Some are just intolerant to cow products like milk butter cheese.
I always think its best to just have goats milk etc.. not alot seem to react to goat products. Goat milk is a2 and very low in lactose and alot easier to digest x
ok keep you hair on - just a suggestion - and just because you react to nuts and seeds have you every tried these - you may be ok - I can't eat eggs but I can have them if they are in something cooked
Hey BabsyWabsy Ive read a.little on it. Bit it says one major symptoms is diarrhea - which I dont have at all. I struggle with severe constipation, reallt bad bloating and pain in my back and abdomen x
Try Koko as a milk replacement in cereals and tea it's easy on the stomach.
Hello DM 14, sorry to hear about your allergies. I after many years was finally diagnosed coeliac & when I dropped gluten the change was amazing. However, I still had the odd 'bad ' day so my GP suggested going lactose free- I believe all newly diagnosed coeliacs are advised to do this due to the gut damage they've suffered. Again, big improvement but still 'unexplained ' days of issues so I tried dropping all dairy & am so much better. Eczema, asthma & fatigue(mostly) have cleared. It's so much easier now than when I did it, home is easy, eating out not so good but improving, check your free from aisles in the supermarket & good luck
Thanks for this message shaughnessy ? Good to hear im not alone!! Allergies/intolerances really do make it difficult sometimes dont they! Ive had 2 lots of blood tests for coeliac but both negative results.
I think ill try moving away from cows milk for abit...if that doesnt help maybe dairy all together? I dont want to cut out too much if I can -as there's so much I cant eat already.x
I became lactose intolerant about 5 years ago out of the blue! Most supermarkets now sell Lactose free milk and cheese and dairy free spread such as Vitalite or Pure instead of butter. Also Alpro yoghurt made from plants, which is very nice, and lactose free cream. Anything now containing a small percentage of lactose sends me rushing to the loo, so I always check labels! You'd be surprised how soon one gets used to a slightly different diet.....Best of luck.
Unfortunately I also suffer with IBS which causes diarrhea with me but constipation in other people! I really don't know if lactose intolerance causes constipation, as with me it is all tangled up with the irritable bowel and D - I had IBS years earlier than the lactose intolerance so did the one cause the other?? Perhaps another correspondent can answer your question..... I hope so.
