Volunteers Wanted - Research Project

Exploring levels of mindfulness and psychological flexibility in IBS.

A new study by a doctoral psychology student at the University of Liverpool is focussing on the concepts of mindfulness and psychological flexibility in people with IBS, and any effects of these on aspects of everyday life, such as stress, mental wellbeing, and quality of life. We would like to offer you the chance to be part of this research.

Mindfulness is thought to be paying attention in a particular way: on purpose, in the present moment, and nonjudgmentally; and psychological flexibility is the ability to be open, present-focused and aware, and to change or persist in behaviours when doing so serves one’s values and goals”.

The research aims to recruit people with IBS who visit The IBS Network website and who receive the ‘Gut Reaction’ magazine. It is hoped that the findings will inform future psychological interventions and support for people with IBS.

Inclusion Criteria

You must be:

-diagnosed of IBS

-over 18 years of age

-English speaking

If you decide you would like to take part in this research, it will take approximately 30 minutes of your time and will involve you completing some questionnaires online at your convenience.
