I hope you are all having a good day so far and those of you in the UK aren't suffering too much with the amount of wind and rain we are getting, I hope none of you are coping with flooding.
My daughter a while ago sent me a link to IBS research so I joined and am pleased to say I've been accepted. I had a Zoom call with a Doctor yesterday who is a Clinical Research Fellow
at the Institute of Neurogastroenterology in Queen Marys University, London. I'm wearing a couple of devices and one is a wristband and the other is a chest monitor. I went through a questionnaire as a test whilst we were on the phone and I was surprised how many symptoms you can get with IBS. You would have thought that as I've had it since 1996 I would have known most of them.
The study lasts 7 days and then I'll send the equipment back in the post. It's taking part in research that eventually finds either a cure of treatment that works. I'd love to see the results and will ask the doctor if I'll be able to or when they'll be published.
I hope you all have a good day even though the weather is rubbish in the UK.
This is fabulous Alicia, how very interesting. I hope things are learnt to help with all the suffering as this condition takes over your life, and there is still a lack of understanding, I feel it gets minimized by the GP and others that are not sufferers
I really hope so as well and agree there really is a lack of understanding, there are doctors that say 'oh, it's only IBS', now that is what annoys me.
Ah, now you've asked me. I'll try and remember: headaches, muscle pain, nausea (that's my main symptom), light heaviness. I'll post when I remember more. There are the obvious ones of course like tummy pain etc.
Good morning Alicia yes it's good news. My uncle was suffering with IBS he didn't know he had it he is 84 but as I had knowledge from my own experience even tho mild as I mentioned, and with the help of his daughter we got him changing his eating I'm afraid a lot of doctors just want to give pills out and are uneducated in diet, so many in the UK have it and just suffer for so long my nephews wife for one, and there are so many conditions that are part of what my specialist called the IBS family, I've asked my friend if she has that video I saw from quora digest as I sent her i want to keep my gut lining strong. Yes weathers arful soposed to get worst here i am concerned about global warming and it's gone to the background of news with covid and other issues. Hope you have a good day and don't get too bored me and pixie are still in bed lol he's been out and we've had breakfast xxππ₯

Well done on spotting it and helping him. I agree it's just handing out the pills, IBS is diet related, as well as stress of course.
I have a couple of books to read on the gut, there's so much to IBS. Some doctors almost dismiss it, I remember almost begging my doctor to refer me to a Dietitian. The Low Fodmap diet has been my saviour but since reintroducing foods and trying to change my diet for the long term can still be confusing.
I'm also concerned about the planet and I don't think the powers that be are.
The weather has improved a great deal here, we actually have sun so I've got washing on the line.
Dave went out this morning but he's been in for quite a long time and is sleeping on the top of the stairs.πππ
Hi Alica, please to see that youβre helping with this. I was invited to a study just before lockdown but travel was curtailed and and a result, my study ceased. Would certainly be interested in helping in another. Is there a link to the study?
