Hi has any one tried Triphala

Hi, I have IBS-C and try to avoid strong laxatives, I some times use Caricol which is gentle but it takes many days to work for me. I have planned a weeks holiday and will no doubt have problems going to the toilet. Has any one tried Triphala, for constipation, if so would you recommend it for holiday use?

Thank you for any replies in advance.

My preference is to use glycerin suppositories or Microlax mini-enemas. For me, they have no side effects and work more quickly and reliably than oral laxatives.

I tried but little or no result. At best it created pressure (uncomfortable) but no result.

The only thing that has worked for me, after trying everything including Triphala, was the Low-FODMAP diet. It may seem a little difficult at first -- but after only a few days -- most people get relief from IBS symptoms.

I have tried the formal diet and still follow it to a degree. It dies help for bloating but not constipation

Hi all, thank you for all of your reply's concerning Triphala. I don't think I will take the product after reading your responses. I do follow the low FODMAP diet, which has definitely helped, but when I'm away from home my symptoms usually are worse, due to being anxious about my tummy misbehaving.

I have tried it but it does not really work for me. It is not something that works quickly so I would not take for holidays. The best natural remedy and I have tried many is to take about 500mg magnesium citrate at night on an empty stomach and that works. You can also try magnesium oxide. I have suffered for many years is this is the only thing that helps me. Even my gastro doctor suggested it. If you look online there are many sites for Ibs recommending it for constipation.

Hi Pat1 thank you for that. Please could you recommend a brand you take as I have not left myself much time to look into this as I go away early next week. I will have to order on line. Thank you.

I take Now Magnesium citrate capsules. You can get them on Amazon. Capsules are better. Drink lots of water when you take them. I take 3 or 4 a night.

According to Ayurveda, poor digestion, leading to accumulation of toxins in the body, is one of the main causes of gastrointestinal (GI) tract disorders with hormonal imbalance, constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, bloating and anal disorders being some of the most common disorders affecting most. Detoxifying the body of accumulated toxins helps the GI tract to function at its optimum. With Triphala, an Ayurvedic herbal formulation, one can now get respite from these disorders and improve the quality of life to a great degree.

The formulation, comprising of the three fruits - amalaki, bibhitaki and haritaki, not only detoxifies the body of all toxins but also promotes the proper functioning of the internal body organs, thus enhancing health and vitality. Its proven anti-inflammatory, antibiotic and antiviral properties make it one of the widely used herbal formulations for treatment of GI tract disorders.

Triphala’s effective combination of herbs acts as a gentle laxative on the body, cleansing the body of all toxic waste accumulated over time while at the same time strengthening and nourishing the tissues. Its two main advantages are that it is an affordable solution for the many people who require prompt relief from the discomfort and pain that is usually a given thing in GI tract disorders of all kinds and the fact that it causes very little known side effects for people using it.

Apart from being a natural laxative, Triphala also provides a host of health benefits, some of the important ones being helping the body recover from ill effects of stress, boosting the immune system, preventing signs of ageing, purifying blood and aiding in weight loss by regularizing the function of the digestive tract.

You can eliminate the many ill effects caused by the unhealthy lifestyle and diet that affect our digestive health with regular consumption of Triphala and kick start your way to a healthier and energetic you.
