You just cut everything out of your diet . I dont like milk or anything like yogurts, cream, soft cheese or anything like that so I dont know what to do . This is probably a silly question sorry .

Your question is not very clear. Are you saying that you think you should have milk etc but you don't want to because you don't like it? If you don't like it than don't have it.

And what do you mean by 'before'?

Are you talking about FODMAP or another elimination diet?

I said do you eat what you did before you get ibs or just go straight cut everything from you diet and go on FODMAP. I know my ibs isnt because of dairy as I dont have any . Sorry my question didnt make sence I wasnt feeling myself when I wrote it sorry

No need to apologise, it just wasn't clear what you were asking for. Maybe start with the FODMAP diet and see how you go with that.

Hi Dawnann, I assume you mean eat as before you were diagnosed with IBS? The best way to do it is to have a list of food 'suspects' that you think trigger symptoms. (For you, obviously, it won't be dairy since you don't eat it.) Then, cut one food at a time out of your diet for a minimum of two - three weeks and see if your symptoms improve. If they do, you may have found a trigger food - but it's always worth re-introducing it back into your diet to check if your symptoms come back. Do this for each food one at a time, not all together - otherwise you don't know which food is causing the improvement!! There's no need for you to eat dairy if you don't like it, dairy is a known trigger food for IBS anyway. Just make sure you are choosing an alternative that is fortified with calcium or take a supplement. Good luck! :)

Thanks trekkiegirl thats more clearer now. I was just makeing a point about dairy because I know its not that. I carnt eat chocolate I know that and I love it :( . And I have just found I am in really bad pain after eating curry sause not a thing I will ever eat again. I get what I have to do its just going to take a lot of time no quick fix then . Thank you

Just one at a time sweetie, try for a couple of weeks to see if there is any difference. Trekkiegirl is right - you should take supplements as well. Buy some vitamins from the chemist, you can always ask the pharmacist questions if you are not sure and they will be pleased to answer you.

I have tried cutting out FODMAPS--but gluten free made me more constipated. I tried lactose free or low lactose and I don't eat the foods you mention.with the exception of yogurt. I also eat hard cheese, kefir and gelatto. Recently started ice cream. I mix with a little yogurt and fruit. What I have to avoid is the food group that includes broccoli :(

I ate a frozen meal that included green peppers, onions and even though I picked out the visible ones, it gave me pain.

I have re-added legumes because, although they give me gas, they do not cause pain like the broccoli group. You just have to be observant, and use common sense. I know I eat too many sweets right now. so I'm going to cut back, without depriving myself! Few pleasures left and non-painful!!!
