Does any one else get headaches with ibs D?
I get headaches with ibs-d, and floaters in my eyes. Sometimes the headaches become migraines and I have to go to bed. I'm not sure how to help this, I'm experimenting with fodmaps and cutting out sugar. My main symptom of ibs is swelling and I wonder if the swelling causes the headache, but I'm not sure.
I get headaches too, but am sure it's due to dehydration and loss of salts and minerals due to going to the loo all the time . And then when constipated am sure the headaches must be due to the buildup of toxins inside and all the bloated ness . All comes hand in hand with the nausea and permanent tiredness.
I was mystified by the severe headaches> The more I read on this site, the clearer things became. I now fill a 1l jug and force down 2l of water a day. This keeps the headaches at bay. If I start a small headache, I push water down and it goes. I've cut out caffeine and eat less. I found a chart at mayoclinic.com ,showing the fibre content of various foods. I knew that Wheatabix did not work as well for me as All Bran Origional but had no idea how different the fibre content was. Now my transit time is reduced as I aim for 25g fibre a day and I have hardly any headaches. I take 1T Flax seed with All Bran in the morning and in the evening I mix 1T with yogurt. I also cut out alcohol. I realise now this is a form of detox. Do hope the above helps you.
I suffer with ibs d and i have to take imodium every day I seem to get a lot of headaches as well the pharmacist who gives me them always says to drink plenty of water even if you don't want too to try too prevent them but I have always suffered with migraines since I was little as well
Yes I have done, though I have to say the headaches have abated considerably since I gave up wheat and lactose, i found the dairy especially contributed to the headaches and at certain times of the month hormones made the problem worse. i avoid wheat as much as possible and follow the low fodmap diet, though a few odd treat foods do enter my diet from time to time!! I also take flaxseed a desert spoonful on my oatibix or rice crispies, Holland and Barrat do some really lovely finely milled ones, they are a great source of omega 3 and i think that this is also helping me to feel better. Im not as constipated as i used to be but a word of caution, when you use these seeds you MUST drink at least a litre and a half of water/squash to wash them through your system otherwise you can suffer from more gripey pain..and if anybody has diverticular disease then these seeds are not a good idea!
just by increasing your fluids though you may find the headaches improve
Thank you all for you answers I am terrible for drinking water so I know this could be the problem.
Hi yes headaches a part if ibs c and d. If I get constipated I get mega headaches, they are hard to get rid of until bowels move again. I find the more swollen my tummy gets the worse the headache and I feel pressure behind my eyes, almost like sinus. I just take painkillers and keep hydrated. Its obviously a build up of toxins.
I have a mysterious almost constant headache that will get worse when i get pains from digestion. sometimes i fill i have blury vision and presure on my eyes.
I got the impression from what i read that it was candida but i guess this story is not that simple and candida alone wont do you headaches, i am on a candida diet with no sugar or complex sugars but still headaches are ther and my belly aches. i think that the stomach pains are doing CNS problems i dont know why
