Hi, I'm Juneday and began my journey in July. I had my first cycle 7 weekly sessions of chemo along with monthly infusions of zometa, off for three weeks then a PET scan. My scan was about 60 percent clear. My oncologist said the chemo was doing its job. I just finished my 2nd cycle- 7 weekly sessions

No end to Docetaxel?
After a stage 4 diagnosis at end of July, MO immediately started me on lupron, short term casodex for the flair (now done), zometa for bones, and docetaxel for chemo. My initial PSA was 11.5 and mets had already spread extensively in spine. Now after chemo round four today, PSA is already down to 0.3

Zometa
I recently received an Zometa treatment to strengthen my bones, from which the following day had serious side effects ie; joint pain, chills, fever, nausea, and nerve pain kept me in bed all day any ideas how to combat these side effects as I am scheduled for treatment every 90 days for the next year

I'm new and taking letrazole and Ibrance and Zometa
Hi - I had breast cancer in 2009 and have been NED since this past spring of 2017 when I started having neck, head, and back pain. I finally had an MRI that showed mets to hips, spine and sacrum. I first had radiation to my hips and spine, then have been on letrazole and Ibrance since May and June.

Phytanic Acid
Sisira brought the subject up, in the context of red meat. He quotes Dr. Myers" "He says in more than 100 papers in scientific literature that he has read, phytanic acid present in these foods can promote the growth and spread of prostate cancer." & "Dr. Patrick Walsh in his book "Guide to Surviving

First post, take it easy on the new guy
Greetings. Diagnosed in March 2016 with S4 PSA 658. Since diagnosis, have been through quarterly Lupron and Zometa treatments, 6 rounds of chemo which ended Halloween 2016 and saw the PSA hit a nadir of 1.59. Since then, it doubled and tripled until it hit 226 in May 2017 - so MO put me on Zytiga/Prednisone

Beta-carotene thoughts
I've always been an advocate of healthy eating and the use of natural remedies when possible. I'm not stupid enough to discard conventional medicine when danger strikes so I'm not a fruitloop. I know I will have to stop taking my supplements once the chemo starts next week but I wonder if anyone has

Xgeva Vs Zometa
Hi Folks ;) We received a notice from our local oncologist that Elgie would now be receiving Zometa infusions instead of Xgeva due to the cost. They say it is the same quality at a lower cost. Does anyone have experience or does anyone know if this is true? Thanks so much :) Jackie

Titan Clinical Trial for Apalutamide
Curious to hear from anyone else on this study. How long have you been on it? Side effects? I started this in Dec 2016 after completing 6 rounds of Docetaxal. Continueing on Lupron since June 2016. Also have had 2 Zometa treatments. Because this is a blind study I am not sure if I am getting a placebo

Hello from Calgary
A fellow PC friend of mine sent me the link to this site. I was diagnosed a year ago with stage 4 PC. With each visit to the doctor I got progressively worse news. The most devastating was when my wife and I sat in front of the oncologist and he said that it had advanced to the bone. Since that

Jawbone Death
Bisphosphonates BEWARE If entering into any treatment that includes a bisphosphonate such as Zometa - added as an IV during chemo treatment. Others are taken as tabs, ensure you have any required dental treatment first. It says so on the packet! My case? 10 cycles chemo. Great results with that plus

Best form of Selenium Supplement: Selenomethionine
Hello, I need to buy a new box of my selenium supplement. The one I was using was from a brand called "Sentinel" and has other vitamins added to such as A and C and beta carotene, things I don't think I need. Now, I'm looking for a good brand. I've listened to an interview about Selenium and thyroid

I'm Back
Hi fellow fighters, I plugged in about a month ago with my story. I'm not sure where I left off, but a lot has transpired since then. I reported that I thought I had a rotator cuff injury that I inquired about in November. Fast forward after an MRI, in January revealed that a tumor was in the humerus

Saw a newly diagnosed man's PSA go from 400+ to .61.
I recently met a newly-diagnosed man in a nearby Prostate Cancer Support Group. Already metastatic to many bones, and with pelvic area bone pains. He took Casodex to prevent a "flare" and started Lupron. Also had one Zometa infusion. Then, per the CHAARTED trial results (favoring earlier rather than

Foods/Supplements-Vitamins: Fats - [1] Oleic & Stearic Acids – (Olive Oil & Animal Fat)
This is the first installment in a discussion of dietary fats, with respect to prostate cancer. Consideration is also given to cardiovascular health. The primary focus is on the cancer paradox: that the ratio of oleic acid to stearic acid increases as cancer progresses. Does it make sense to limit
