Zometa
I felt the same after my first infusion. All subsequent infusions have been fine.
I, like you, had a horrible reaction to Zometa. My oncologist switched me to Xgeva which I've found to be infinitely more tolerable. You might want to ask your oncologist about Xgeva. Medicare didn't want to cover it, initially, but my oncologist went to bat for me and now it's covered. 👍 Good luck!!
I also recently had the same reaction. Not fun at all. I would change to Xgeva if your oncologist agrees with it.
I had the same reaction the first infusion. Since then all has been fine. Going on 20 months, down to an infusion every 3 months, no problems. Good luck.
I had the worst reaction to the first infusion! Turned out that I was allergic to it, and so I learned alot of "tricks" to help when getting it. My onc prescribed a half dose rather than full dose with pre meds of hydrocortison and benedryl. Longer infusion time helps--for me, two hours rather than 20 minutes, with extra fluids. Also, be sure to drink plenty of water the day before, day of and day after. That can help alot. My allergy was obvious--turned red, hives popped out. But I understand that alot of us have the worst reaction the first time or two. By your fourth, you will probably be fine.
