Diagnosed June 2015...
I'm back again with more details about my diagnosis. I was diagnosed with Stage IV Infiltrative Lobular Carcinoma in June 2015. ER/PR+ HER2- Mets to spine, rib cage, pelvic/ileac bone and right clavicle. I never had early stage breast cancer. Stage IV at original diagnosis. Hardest thing I've ever

Dental care while on Zometa?
Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone has had their teeth cleaned or had procedures done at the dentist while on a biophosphonate such as Zometa. I know there's a danger of jaw necrosis if invasive work is done but I haven't been to the dentist in 2 years and need to have a cavity filled. I'm a little

Hi! Lobular BC with bone mets....
Hello everyone. I'm Kats3 and was first diagnosed with lobular BC in my left breast, very tiny area, in 2012. I had a lumpectomy which showed one positive sentinel node. It was felt that I didn't need chemo but had 33 rounds of radiation. I was put on Arimidex for 1 1/2 years. I'm ER+, Progesterone

SNAP SHOT of my DNA .... DID YOU KNOW YOUR DNA Weighs 7kg and mine is made up mostly of G's
Gee WIZ .. DNA is just amazing stuff and advent of data bases are ones creating cures .. DNA is like a coiled spring and when it gets diseased BITs are added to DNA thus un-spring's uncoils and THAT is very bad. But amazing thing about Dna & Steroids is the put the spring back into your DNA. "0","rs351855

Hi! I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer at the end of June. Had my 6th and last Perjetta last Thursday. Will continue with Herceptin and Zometa till next July. My question is does anyone know how long to stay on Herceptin? Any advice or arguments for 1 vs 2 years?

Foods/Supplements-Vitamins: Peanuts
For those who care about such thing, I have given the humble peanut - a legume - its own post, divorced from the nut category. Unfortunately, PCa researchers have yet to do a peanut study. In the latest nuts study [1]: "Total nut consumption was defined as the sum of peanut and other nut consumption

Lutein/Beta Carotene
I've just been researching Marshalllow Root (which is supposed to be good for inflammation) and read that people with Hashis should avoid Lutein and Beta Carotene, but I can't seem to find out why. Can anyone help please?

Foods/Supplements-Vitamins: D - Cholecalciferol/Calcidiol/Calcitriol - U-shaped Risk
This is the first of 3 posts on vitamin D. My sense is that many men with PCa in the U.S. are aware that vitamin D might be useful. Dr. Myers, an early adopter, has spoken of its importance, & the difficulty his patients have in raising levels. (Which implies that he tests patient levels. How many

Foods/Supplements-Vitamins: Vitamin C - Oral
This is the other half of the vitamin C topic. (aka ascorbic acid; ascorbate) Oral vitamin C from food or supplements is mostly not associated with reduced PCa risk. Studies mostly looked at vitamin C intake & the risk of a future PCa diagnosis. Is there benefit after diagnosis? The vitamin C gurus

Foods/Supplements-Vitamins: Vitamin A (Retinol, Retinoic Acid [RA], Beta Carotene)
This is the first in a series of reviews of the PCa literature for foods & supplements. When I began looking at studies 12 years ago, I started with vitamin A, which I quickly discovered is not an easy topic. It goes on a bit, so for those who want the bottom line: do not supplement with vitamin A (
