2019 flu jab info (UK specific)
Hi all, This is specific for UK based people. I was in my GP waiting room (accompanying my mother) when I overheard the receptionist say “yes, we are taking bookings for flu injections now”. That caused me to check online and I found this.. https://www.england.nhs.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/annual-national-flu-programme

Tips on dealing with stubborn dad who wants to treat prostate cancer naturally
Hi, I am new to this so apologies if this has been discussed in the past. I will like to get any tips or resources to convince my dad to accept medical treatment. And how do I communicate with him without angering him or making him feel forced which has put a strain on our relationship. So some background

Shingles Vaccine
My Rheumatologist has recommended that I get a shingles vaccination before starting biologics. Anyone else under 50 and received vaccine? Any adverse events? I’ve read mixed reviews since no studies have been conducted on safety of vaccine in patients with autoimmune disease. I am getting it tomorrow

Someone asked about Low Dose Naltrexone.
I thought I would post this on main site so that people can read. I have an unusual journey. I have been on LDN for about 2 weeks now. I am not sure if it has helped but I think that perhaps it is along with the other things I am trying. I developed disabling PMR in late March of this year (2019).

The 'FLU' - who needs it !!??
Hi All Not a new subject I know - I see Yoga Bonnie had it a few months ago and had to cancel a trip. I do realise the UK is currently in the midst of a heatwave and likely not conducive to spreading flu bugs - but down here in the OZ Winter this year they have been rather 'rife'. Apparently 'they' dished

Thank you.
Thank s ladies for replying to my post about the Shingles Vaccine. I don't think I am going to have it, I am having a bad time reducing the Pred without something else to worry about at the moment. Hope I am doing the right thing. Jenny x

Pneumonia Vaccine
Morning all, after a chest X-ray and a spirometer test, I have been diagnosed with mild COPD. Last week the nurses suggested I have the pneumonia vaccine. I asked her if there are any side effects, she said only a pain in my arm 😃 Has anyone here had any other side effects from the vaccine. I ask

Another tumour 😩
Sadly the cystoscopy showed another tumour today. The fourth return since 2016 looks like the Mitomycin isn’t working for me. I’m thinking BCG is the next step after the operation on 3 September. Hoping it’s another benign one like the last time 🤞🌻 Hope you’re having a more positive start to the week

Methotrexate and Yellow Fever Vaccine
Hi. I’m travelling to Brazil in November so must get a yellow fever jab. I inject methotrexate weekly and I know live vaccines don’t mix well with a suppressed immune system but current thinking says methotrexate is aiming for normal immune system levels (not suppressing it). Struggling to find a health

I should know better, actually I do
I should know better and actually I do but that does not stop me when it comes to needles. Yesterday I had to get a flu shot. No big deal to normal people but as we all know when it comes to any sort of needle I am the biggest baby in the world. Actually they are probably braver than me. It amazes

Shingles Vaccination concern
Has anyone had the shingles vaccination after ceasing to take steroids? I tapered to zero successfully 6 weeks ago but I still have to take 15mg of methotrexate a week (I have GCA). Because I will become ineligible by the end of the year due to my age, my doctor is anxious I have the vaccination as
