I started
Xtandi
in the fall of 2014, and the PSA went down to 14 for a few months.

My journey so far
Moved on the
Xtandi
which worked awhile, but progression resumed in May 2015, so we moved on to docetaxel. Only side effect was low white blood cell count during first cycle. That was resolved by addition of Neulasta. After 10 cycles took a break for over 3 months (probably too long).

Another challenge
It appears that with the reduction in
Xtandi
last November and my orchiectomy, that my prostate has had a growth spurt, and I'm hoping that I can have radiation to shrink it again.

Targeting mTOR
Hence the rationale for combining Everolimus with Casodex, although I wonder why the people at Davis didn't choose
Xtandi
. A "PSA response" was set as >=30%, rather than the usual 50%, although 62.5% did beat 50%. 75% met the 30% target.

Starting PSA was 5,006.4
Next step is likely to be
Xtandi
. I attend several monthly local prostate cancer support groups, and find them quite helpful. My wife and I also participate in a weekly general, counseling-oriented, advanced cancer patients support group, and also find it quite helpful.

Mrs. Tom-36
CY 10 he received Provenge therapy, followed by
Xtandi
. CY 11 he had IXofigo, intravenous radiation. A bone scan indicated multiple ares of increased uptake (more mets).

Living with it!
Did the Provenge treatment, added Eligard,
Xtandi
and Celibrex in 2014. At this point (March 2016) the numbers are going in the right direction with each PSA test. Before Provenge my PSA had climbed to 3.4. That was in Nov. 2013. In May 2014 - 1.57. Nov. 2014 - 1.29.

My Intro - Ned in St Louis
He is intending to start me on
Xtandi
soon, having tried Casodex briefly and resulted in shortness of breath. Otherwise I have been on his standard regimen of Metformin, Avodart, Crestor, baby aspirin, and many supplements, Mediterranean diet, and exercise.

SOTIO STUDY
I have just started
Xtandi
. I am not sure if I want to Start the Sotio Study, (uro says "yes") or add a Chemo drug to the
Xtandi
. On the positive side I have no pain. just a few side effects from the
Xtandi
. I do not think I could handle the Sotio study because there is so much involved.

Zytiga and Xtandi .... what do you think about this?
Has anyone experienced the adrenal crash while on
Xtandi
? Is this a permanent condition or will it improve once off
Xtandi
? On a positive note, he did respond to both Zytiga and
Xtandi
. Up until this past week, SE for
Xtandi
was minimal; just more fatigue.
