Hi to the community
Hi everyone Just wanted to write a post to share my experiences as its great to read everyones posts and realise that I'm not alone in suffering with asthma and the lonely feeling that can give you as everyone else seems to go on enjoying life whilst we suffer silently. Im not sure what I'm expecting

New to Asthma and very scared
Hi all! I just thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Ben and in December I came down with a serious case of Bronchitis. Ever since then I have pretty much been constantly short of breath, had a tight chest, a cough (sometimes dry, sometimes productive, it seems to depend on how open my airways are) and

Dr changed my Medication to Fostair 100/6
Hi Health Unlocked Community The last time I wrote on here I had been taking some antibiotics for a mild chest infection. The antibiotics helped with the increased doseage of Ventolin 5 puffs 4 times a day plus Symbicort 2 puffs morning and evening but I'd still not recovered properly and found walking

My Mom has COPD
Hello, I'm new here and my Mom is 73 with COPD and is on full time oxygen for the last 2 years. She has been experiencing tremors on the inside and now just over the past 6 to 7 months she has the shakes really bad but only when she's not sitting. Her lung doctor said some steroids can cause this but

Fostair
Recently I had to double up on my normal dose of fostair, due to a really bad cold and a chest infection. The doctor gave me some antibiotics and I kept on taking my increased meds for about 4 weeks till my peak flow got back to its normal ready and remained steady. There's only one side effect I have

Joss sticks and such
Yesterday I went to my usual yoga. The usual teacher wasn't there, instead there was a stand in, who had lit a joss stick. I had met her once before, when she had also lit a joss stick, about two hours before my class, but though I couldn't smell anything that time, I could feel there was something instantly

Remedies for constant chest infections which start asthma flare ups
Hi. I'm new to this site & just wondered if anyone has any advice & has been going through the same thing. I'm 48 & have been asthmatic since the age of 8, although I only had a few flare ups & recovered quickly. The last 10 years I have had many flare ups, but has been particularly bad the last 4 years

Refused ventolin repeat prescription
For the past 8 years I have had a good relationship with my doctor and nurse. I have a Asthma Action Plan which is reviewed every 3 months and have a repeat prescription for my inhalers. Today I received a call from a receptionist who said I could no longer have a ventolin inhaler. I asked why. The reply

Antibiotics Prescribed plus increase in medication
I saw the doctor today and she prescribed amoxicillin but has asked me to hold off on them till I've upped my ventolin to 5 puffs, 4 times a day to use with my aerochamber. I'm to also continue with symbicort - 2 puffs morning and night. She's prescribed some more Prednisolone to keep in reserve if

Feel like I'm getting worse
Hi everyone, I was diagnosed with mild COPD in November last year. I was brought up in a pub in the days when everyone smoked. I was a smoker myself too. Gave up 13 years ago. Anyway, in November the respiratory nurse said I shouldn't need to use the spirva dry powder, but was told to use the blue ventolin

Hello everyone.
It's about time I introduced myself here. I'm Kay, I've had asthma from childhood. I suffer from GORD too The last two years have seen a steady worsening of my condition. I've had 6 hospital stays and around 20 courses of steriods and antibiotics for exacerbations and infections. Just recently my consultant

Travel advice for Japan
I'd really appreciate advice about travelling for three weeks in Japan, including Tokyo, a well known smog spot, and Kyoto in November this year. I use a Fostair inhaler and Montelukast tablets with Ventolin for back up but my asthma is controlled at present. Has anyone suggestions for coping with pollution

Sirdupla inhaler
Can anyone help?? I have been using this inhaler since November 2016 and I have now got really bad cramps, spams, ringing in my ears, heart racing, cramps all over the body including hand, feet, legs, back, sides - so painful. No explanation from docs I was previously on ventolin and becotide 100

Newbie and Asthma Attacks
Hi, I've had a horrendous chest infection for the past 7 weeks which appears to be going now. The hospital have diagnosed me with asthma and I'm a bit clueless! They've started me on the brown and ventolin inhalers and a spacer. I've been using the preventer for 5 days. At 4am this morning I woke up

IPF (and so much more)
Hello to all! My name is Renee from Canada. I have IPF I think maybe stage 4 by now and am on oxygen 24/7 between 4 for sleeping and 15 on exertion. This really sucks having to drag around oxygen tanks. Not to mention that doing so takes even more energy away from me. My IPF apparently was brought

Advice appreciated
Hello people 😬 Didn't know a site like this existed so am very happy to see posts that relate a little to what I'm experiencing at the minute. I have never been diagnosed with asthma although I have had breathing troubles since I was in my early twenties , I'm now 52🤔 I have tried numerous inhalers
