Diagnosed with Heart Failure
Hi I am Marianne age 50 and blood tests have shown that I have Heart Failure. I have been feeling unwell for 3 months and after antibiotics for a ear and throat infection which then caused thrush in my throat and mouth. Feel completely wiped out so had several blood tests. Now I have to repeat the blood

I'm new, having flare up, any ideas?
Hi everyone, new here. I’ve had asthma all my life but it has been extremely well controlled for most of my life, allowing me to do some pretty intense cycling events etc and not need my blue inhaler at all. I’m 28 now and am in the middle of what seems to be a flare up of sorts. It started about

Ventolin didn't seem to work
In the early hours of the 27th December I had a severe asthma attack that put me in hospital. My peak flow reading was less than 120 even though I'd taken Ventolin through my spacer and the paramedics put me on the nebuliser. The reading hadn't gone up by the time I got to hospital. My usual peak flow

Daily Sputum from coughing
Good afternoon everyone, I suffer with severe Bronchiectasis and I use my nebuliser/postural draining daily to bring up Sputum. I use ventolin and saline Nebs to do this. I usually can cough up a sample container full in the morning and then less as the day goes on. When I have an infection coming in

Exercise/vetolin & fostair?
I am a personal trainer and group exercise instructor and life long asthma sufferer. For a long time maybe unwisely I have relied on ventolin pre exercise to avoid the inevitable exercise induced asthma and daily tightness. So I determined to get it sorted. Numerous go visits firstly put me on clenil

I'm looking for preventative advice to minimise asthma related problems and infections.... can you help?
Hey Up...I'm a newbie and on a mission. I stumbled across this site whilst googling for help and advice and it looks mighty supportive. Basically I was diagnosed with asthma at 24 (now 52). I also have scoliosis which affects my lung capacity (which is currently at 30%) but I am a "glass half full

Back to the doctors tomorrow?
Hello! I have a seasonal chest infection (it's like it's a Christmas tradition in its own right!) but so bad last night that I couldn't sleep - it felt like I was suffocating. Headed off to out-of-hours doctor this afternoon and she refused to prescribe me anything. My own GP tends to prescribe pred

Advice please - after attack/steroids - what next?
I've been pretty well controlled since 2010 (discharged from consultant) on simbicort/montelukast/ventolin. On Boxing day I had a severe attack and had to call an ambulance - the first time I've ever been this bad. It took 4 nebulizers and a magnesium drip to get me under control. I saw my GP the next

Hello, newbie here
Hi there, I was diagnosed with late onset asthma in my early 40’s following a bout of bronchitis, now 62 and just discovered this site. My asthma is usually managed and normally I can go to exercise classes after work, however, following a chest infection at the end of November (two lots of antibiotics

May not be asthmatic but need advice!
Hi everyone. I know this is an asthma forum but not sure who to ask so thought I'd put my story out here and see can I get any tips. I went to my own GP 3 years ago with a chronic cough (ongoing about 15mos by the time I presented - I study abroad and had been told in that country my cough was psychogenic

When will this end?
Firstly, let me wish you all a very Happy New Year and I hope everyone has an enjoyable time tonight. Not sure where to start with my continuing asthma story. I have been having an exacerbation for the last 7 weeks due to a viral cough caught from my DH. He still has a cough after nearly 9 weeks but

Help - post attack
Hi all I had an asthma attack last night (I think!). I was staying at brother's house looking after his dog (always slightly triggers my asthma but usually just makes my lungs a little itchy). He's just moved into his house and there are boxes everywhere (DUST) and night storage heaters up full blast
