Cold virus and amber peak flow: should I call nurse?
Hi there, This is the fourth day of my peak flow being mostly amber with today and yesterday only reaching the 80% line with 4x puffs of ventolin and about an hour and a half after taking it, the effect has warn off. My PEF doesn't seem to be rapidly dropping, so I've been avoiding taking my reliever

According to the doctor i have COPD with asthma threw in for good measure . I find myself having very little confidence in doctors diagnosis of different types of lung disease. Personally when my breathing becomes troublesome ventolin gives me no relief. I had asthma all through my childhood and it left

What to do after an attack
Last night I believe I had an asthma attack which I should have gone to hospital for but didn’t (I was worried they’d just send me off or tell me it’s not an emergency ) I’ve never had anything like that before. I was wheezing very audibly which I usually don’t , I had a very tight chest and I didn’t

Ventolin
I have a bad tight chesty cough at the moment and had to go to A&E the other night to go on nebulser as my inhaler wasnt relieving. I am now on prednisolone ( 6 a day for 5 days), which i hope will help! I’d like to know if it’s ok to take my inhaler a bit more than advised.? I took more this morning

Inhaler change!
Hi evryone, Just thought I'd see if anyone has experience of my new inhaler. I've been using the following inhaler for some 12 months : Eklira 322micrograms/dose Genuair (AstraZeneca UK Ltd) - 60 dose - inhale 1 dose twice daily. Has been ok but recently seemed not to be so effective. Doc changed it

Allergic asthma
Hello I hope everyone is well and coping with the winter weather? I posted in this forum back in July as I had a very bad asthma flare up that was causing a lot of confusion. Since the warm summer months came in, I started waking up every night with bad asthma episodes that could last from 30mins

Frustration......
Went back to see GP, we discussed a lot of things, the changes that my body is going through and me not liking wot is happening to me, feeling short of breath a lot of the time, pain in chest and around the right lung and abdomen..... my GP took everything into account and sent me off for a heap of blood

Streptococcus Pneumonia - Any experiences?
Hello Has anyone had this infection that can share their experience? I have never had chest problems in my life then suddenly this summer I developed a horrible wheeze, it progressively got worse, coughing, tightness and feeling very unwell. I was initially given ventolin and told it’s probably hayfever

I have been to clinical immunology and allergy clinic today. Although respiratory consultant does not think I have asthma the immunology consultant says i have allergies so this could be reason. Today i was diagnosed with a new allergy to Sulphites - skin patch test by dermatologist. E220 Sulphur dioxide

First serious attack since I was 21
I took myself to West Mid A&E last Saturday feeling awful. Within 2 minutes of my arrival I was on a nebuliser and, 6 hours later, having been offered a bed for the night chose to go home instead. That was the worst attack I’d had in over 3 decades and I found the experience rather shocking. I’ve managed

Apices lung scarring
Hello, I can't seem to find a definite answer on whether the moderate scarring to both apices will be stable or will grow. I had a chest xray 2 years ago because of intermittent coughing especially over winter which showed up nothing. Had a ct/hrct lung scan last winter due to coughing and mucus again

Ventolin
I would like to know why only 1 ventolin inhaler is prescribed at a time..I find it more stressful to have to ring up dispensary to be told notdue yet, so need to go to dr.. sometimes 1 lasts a long time, when bad like this time of year use more. Anyone else experienced this.

Chest infection and coughing where I couldn’t regulate my breathing and felt as though I was ‘drowning’ in my throat
Last night I had an awful experience that I found quite scary. I had been wheezing since Monday and managed to see GP on Friday. He confirmed I had a chest infection and prescribed antibiotics and Prednisolone that had before in February when I had my first ever chest infection. I had developed a cough

My quality of life has been on a rapid decline.. hoping someone can help.
I am 27 years old, a year ago happy and healthy until after a bike ride, the day after I had trouble breathing. After months of this getting worse and worse I finally was diagnosed with LPR (Silent Reflux) and started taking Ezomeprazole which for a period got it under control. I then started having

Peak flow - is there an average / age ?
Hello, After a 10mn appointment, my GP told me I have asthma, and gave me a prescription for Ventolin and Steroids ("to take until the end of my life"). So far I have refused to use any drugs long term until I get a more thorough investigation. So far my only symptoms are being prone to colds/flu/chest
