COPD medication
Hi all My Dad 86yrs has recently been diagnosed with COPD. He’s absolutely fine sitting down , he’s chatty & can still sing. He has 2 inhalers ( ventolin. & a once a day bronchial inhaler) They don’t seem to be doing any good. He can just about walk 10 steps before he so short of breath he’s almost collapsed

Is it really asthma? Can’t stop coughing
Hello everyone Been coughing since December, GP says it’s asthma. I’m on ventolin and clenil inhalers, omeprazole (in case it’s acid reflux) and the latest montelukast 10mg. I’m taking my hay fever medication fenofexadine 180mg and mometasone nasal spray. I also take Vit D 3000iu when I remember. The

Reliever Inhalers?
I just recently got an official diagnosis of asthma, which was quite nice, because I now finally know what’s wrong with me! But now, I’m starting to have doubts again. I recently got prescribed a reliever inhaler, and I use it when I get nasty wheezing, and it hasn’t been helping much! It feels like

Anybody suffers from seasonal asthma and use inhaler on demand?
I suffer from seasonal winter asthma. Currently on mart regimen fostair nexthaler 100/6 twice a day. Previously was on becotide twice a day and ventolin as required. I usually stopped taking them before summer and start again beginning of autumn. My mum told me this combi should be taken all year round

Have run out of fostair nexthaler 100/6
I thought I had a spare canister but just found out I have run out. Since it is Easter bank holiday I am hoping I will be able to manage until I get a prescription on Monday. Previously when I was on becotide I usually stopped taking it about this time but due to covid I have been taking it regularly

Immunological Markers
Hi all, I've received a confusing letter after my last frustrating consultant appointment. The consultant states that my Immunological Markers show that I don't need to be on high dose steroids. What markers are these? The only blood tests I've had done whilst in this flare was when I was also on pred

Desperate and worried
Hi. I don't write much but read the posts often and find them amazing - so considerate and informative. My condition has deteriorated and I want to query this amazing group to see if any advice or similar experiences to draw from. Please forgive long post. Background: 63 yo Male in US. Mild asthma

Ventoiln being stopped
I have heard once again that Ventolin used over a length of time is extremely dangerous to the lungs and Doctors are being advised by Specialist to stop prescribing Ventolin. I questioned by wonderful Asthma nurse who has become like a sister to me and always ready to help with my severe lung problems

Starting to feel much better (long post sorry)
For those that had replied to my previous post, thank you. I am starting to feel much better. I think I may have not quite have made sense. I now realise I wasn't making a huge amount of sense as wasn't overly with it, can't put into words how exhausted my body felt. I don't feel I fall into typical

Running with asthma
I have asthma and mild bronchiectasis. I run around once/twice a week- around 3-5k so not very much. I’ve been on Fostair for a couple of years but don’t seem to be getting any benefit from it and still feel like I need my ventolin before exercise. Has anyone swapped to seretide and seen an improvement

Taking ventolin through a spacer
Hi, Has anyone else experienced dizziness when taking ventolin through a spacer? I get a bit dizzy when inhaling just ventolin, (none of the other’s) slowly through the spacer and then holding my breath. Does anyone else have this or know why? It’s a bit puzzling that it doesn’t happen with other

Bandstandlad
Two weeks ago had a telephone appointment with a GP, I was concerned that my breathing had not been as normal for a few weeks. Certainly wheezing while breathing out, just breathing out! No real problem inhaling. I was asked to visit the surgery for a face to face appointment that same day with the GP

What is it like to have your asthma properly medicated?
Hi all, as I am one of the original first UK Coronavirus Lockdown's bronchitis or asthma (which is looking more like asthma now due to symptoms) patient since: 05/05/2020, due to being triaged at a hospital as my doctor could hear me wheeze and lose my breath the deeper I coughed over the telephone;

Advice with symptoms please
Hi everyone. Asking for other people's experience during a flare up. I'm on day 2 of pred and still no let up in my breathlessness. I've had it before and admittedly it didn't kick in until day 4 but I ended up back on it a couple of weeks later so want to be more prepared this time. It constantly feels

Don't want to waste nhs time but..........
This may be a silly question but has anyone had dealings with 111 call backs? Today I was very breathless. It has been slowly building up over the last 2 weeks. The only way to describe it was I felt like I had a slab on my chest, it wasn't that I couldn't breathe just it was more work. I was tired and

Sob symptoms after 5days of prednisolone and currently stepping down
Hi hope all is well with you all. During an asthma flare up which started 12 days ago I was given 5 days prednisolone 40mg daily and another inhaler (Atrovent and then replaced by Spiriva a week later). I normally need a 2 courses of steroids and step down to sort out the problem, but as I’ve had too

Questions about Spiriva and referral
Hi, I’ve just taken my first dose of Spiriva and am always a bit edgy when taking new things 😅. I realised after taking it, that the instructions didn’t say anything about shaking it before use, is that because it’s a different kind of inhaler to Fostair which is my other inhaler? Also it didn’t
