Starting to feel much better (long post sorry)

For those that had replied to my previous post, thank you. I am starting to feel much better. I think I may have not quite have made sense. I now realise I wasn't making a huge amount of sense as wasn't overly with it, can't put into words how exhausted my body felt.

I don't feel I fall into typical asthma symptoms, hence why I always disbelieve it and would say its very mild. Nothing has ever been straightforward with me 😂. Whether it is truly asthma or not the ventolin and pred are working. As to my asking what can be classed as an asthma attack. All I can tell you is I felt as if my chest was being squeezed tighter and tighter and it was a real effort to breathe., I couldn't talk either. I ended up having about 12 puffs of ventolin in total (unusual for me) over the afternoon into the evening. After 2 puffs it would be a little better then get worse again, finally after the last lot the squeezing eased up and I could finally breathe. Finally the pred is kicking in, I still have chest tightness, have to have a little breather after going up the stairs and struggle to walk and talk but it's easing. Been prescribed another lot of pred as last lot is today and she wanted to bring it under control a bit more so said to taper off with these ones. Also because my throat is partially closed and swollen tongue which I tend to have all summer due to tree pollen.

If anyone is still left and didn't get too bored I am really interested in bpd? I've seen on here a lot about breathing pattern disorder. I've always thought I maybe don't breathe normally but thought I was mad for thinking that as didnt think it was an actual thing?

Also does anyone else have to sleep with their head tilted up (sleep on my side so it's doable 😂) otherwise I can't breathe particularly well or is that just me being weird?

Although haven't had to sleep like that last two nights since I had all that ventolin and pred kicked in, also been waking up early and actually feeling alert instead of a zombie

Sorry for the incredibly long post but hopefully someone wasn't bored enough to finish it 😂🤣😂

Don't apologise for posting! Glad you're beginning to feel better - beware that it can take longer than you think and one can easily overdo it. Not that I do that every time or anything....

BPD - very common alongside asthma and after exacerbations.

This site is very good for basic breathing exercises.

Will be back later with additional info.

Thank you. Oh dear I'm not very good at taking it easy 😬. Something to do with the kids calling mum every 5 seconds, having 3 dogs and living in a townhouse (yes, two flights of stairs is really helpful) oh and I live near the woods and have bad hayfever 😂🤣😂. I will try my best though.

If the ventolin and pred are working it seems like it's definitely inflammation / asthma. So glad to hear you're fearing better! It's a weird and mysterious disease and often comes and goes in bouts that are hard to anticipate. Take good care.
