cross over liver diseases
hi all, I have been diagnosed with both anti mitochondrial antibodies (AMA) (primary biliary cirrhosis) and anti smooth muscle (ASM) (autoimmune hepatitis). Apparently it is uncommon to have both and I will be starting medication shortly Ursofalk and Entocort steroids. Anyone else out there in a similar

Drug trial NGM282
Hi Everyone If I get past the screening phase I may be participating in this drug trial. It is aimed at people between 18 and 75 who have a PBC diagnosis with raised levels of ALP that have not come down using Ursofalk (my ALP at last blood test was 730 for example). You need to have been on a stable

Which one is the culprit for depression? I am currently on ursofalk 250 x 3, solupred 5 mg x 1, zyloric x1, and eltroxin 50 mg x 1 daily.
Since my doctor would not do it, I did; I am gradually withdrawing from solupred, and instead of taking ursofalk three times daily, I am taking two, and sometimes one. Zyloric I completely stopped two weeks ago. The eltroxin I only started a month ago and intend to keep on taking it. I am also taking

My dr. Didn't really explain anything about side effects, and she suggested I take the whole dose in one go not build up gradually. Thank goodness the pharmacist knew better. I haven t buit up to the full dose yet . I'm taking my tablets during my meals to help with the heart burn. I'm eating loads of

Teenager with pbc/aih overlap
Hi all, I have recently been told i had PBC and AIH (overlap syndrome). I've been going through a lot of tests such as liver biopsy (sorest thing in my life) and millions of blood tests and xrays. I have a MRI on Wednesday. My specialist only has me on Ursofalk right now until he has a more detailed

Newly diagnosed. How does PBC impact existing health problems?
Hi I was diagnosed with PBC four months ago after having a series of confused / dizzy spells leading to scans, blood tests. So I did all the practical stuff, I read the leaflets, improved my diet, took my Ursofalk and bar a few stomach upsets it was business as usual. From what I've read at this point

Do you take 3 ursofalk tablets a day in one go or 1 in the morning, 1 at lunchtime and 1 in the evening?
I am taking them spread throughout the day but, I keep forgetting them. I'm a little worried about taking them altogether. In case they make me feel unwell.

Methotrexate combined with Ursofalk seems to be improving bilirubin levels and other blood tests.
After being prescribed methotrexate my blood tests have progressively improved. Bilirubin has now dropped to 26 (it was at 76 at its highest point) and the ALP! GGT, AST and ALT have also lowered. I am taking 15mg per week in one dose as well as 1250mg Ursofalk daily. You also have to take Megafol (high

Feeling alone and needing help
Hi everyone, I am the partner of someone who is suffering from PBC. He was diagnosed three and half years ago (age 41) and was told that he was at stage 3 of the disease, so unfortunately quite a late diagnosis. He has been taking 1500 mg of Ursofalk and has been relatively okay until now. Infuriatingly

Improved blood tests after a month on methotrexate
Just got back from the gastro....he started me on 10mg of methotrexate once a week last month after my blood tests went up dramatically after a month on Ursofalk. Those results are in my other post. Bilirubin is back down to 46 from 76 and the ALP has dropped from 768 to 642. GGT, AST and ALT also down

Has anybody's blood tests become worse after starting on Ursofalk?
I went to my gastro last Monday with positive thoughts that my healthy eating plan and the Ursofalk would have had some positive impact, BUT bilirubin had gone from 45 to 76, ALP from 752 to 768, AST from 96 to 622, and ALT from 182 to 1179. Albumin was constant 38 and the GGT had gone down from 895

Ursofalk is working
Hello. My doc thinks I suffer from PBC. Bloodtests showed I had high levels of ggt (185). All other tests are negative. I have been postponing biopsy so my doc can't be sure about my problem. I feel tired all the time and have some mitral valve prolapse symptoms. Doc prescribed me Ursofalk which

Does the Ursofalk medicine get rid of jaundice? My eyes are yellow! If it does how long did it take?
I have been taking the Ursofalk for about a week and a half. My billirubin was 45umol/dL (2.7 on the other scale) on diagnosis. I probably shouldn't do it but I am looking constantly at my eyes to see if the medicine is working. Liver biopsy said I was late stage 2/early stage 3. I have also read Ursofalk

Alternative treatment?
As I got the diagnosis PBC in September'12 and on a treatment of Ursofalk. After 6 months some new bloodtests indicated that was'nt sufficient, so now I have to take fenofibrate as well. Since the itching comes and goes (I have Questran for that), and I feel very confused and I am obviously very unhappy
