If it doesn't make you feel bad, is it working?
Background: My husband recently received his fourth docetaxel treatment. He has mets to bones and lymph nodes and has had two SBRT sessions to bone and prostate which significantly reduced both pain and node size. He has "failed" both apalutamide and abiraterone and is officially castrate resistant.

CDK12 gene mutation
My husband continues to be hormone sensitive but Sept. 4, 2023 he developed intense and unrelenting pain in his right mandible. The oncologist and palliative care nurse prescribed morphine and dilaudid to help reduce the pain. These pain meds are helping although he can still feel pain and gets breakthrough

Surgery While on Xtandi/Eligard
I have been on Xtandi/Eligard now for about 5 months. At a psa of around 1.9 last March psma pet picked up 3 nodules in my lungs. All less than a cm. I am hormone sensitive and my current psa is undetectable. This July I had a ct scan of chest/abdomen/pelvis. The mets in the lung have decreased in size

Just completed a whole gland TULSA procedure
This was salvage treatment after failure of SBRT by MRIdian in Mar 2020.PSA nadir after SBRT was 2.4 and it rose to 5.3 just 3 years later, when a PSMA scan showed 2 possible tumours within the gland. A subsequent biopsy confirmed local tumour recurrence with Gleason 4+4. Interventional radiotherapy

The CRP:Albumin ratio & CRPC Survival
New paper from Portugal below [1]. Here is another study showing the consequences of subclinical inflammation. The inflammation markers used were C-reactive protein [CRP] & albumin. {The useful Modified Glasgow Prognostic Score uses the same markers, but in a cruder way.} It is always better

Hi everyone, 6 weeks ago, after 7 rounds of egg collection and 2 transfers (this was my second transfer), my son was born at 37 weeks via c-section due to placenta previa, gestational diabetes, risk of pre-eclempsia and 'my age'. I finally became a mother at 46 (with my 42 year old egg) ! The baby

8/4/23 Update questions for MO
To review, after 19 months on Lupron, Zytiga, prednisone, PSA increased on 1/23 to 0.253, then 0.309 on 2/21. Plarify scan showed only one active site in hip which was radiated. 4/4 PSA dropped to 0.24 which indicated the lesion was knocked out and I would be hormone sensitive and stay on Zytiga. Yea

Lutetium 177 for "early" grade 4 pc or amino acid suppression ?
Dear All,It's a story of two brothers in the uk. Older brother was identified with 4+5 pc. His urologist recommended that any sibling be tested for pc. I did so and it was discovered that I had 3+4 pc. Older brother , via our national health care system, NHS, has systemic treatment ( chemo and hormone

Blood Test Results.
Some of you will remember it took me a month to get blood test results because in the first instance the Doc who arranged them wanted to give me the results. Made about 3 appointments which were cancelled because he changed his working days or whatever so eventually decided that just to get the results

PSA seasonality
I am mounting a theory that has to do with increased PSADT during winter vs summer time. For this reason I analyzed my old PSA readings during the 2+ years before starting Bicalutamide. I divided the year into two halfs assigning winter as the period starting on the autumnal equinox and ending on the

radiation decisions and second and third opinions
My dad was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer. It has metastasized to two pelvic lymph nodes and a lymph node in his back they initially called “suspicious” because it’s so small if it wasn’t for the PSMA scan it wouldn’t have been picked up at all. He got his first Lupron shot 3 weeks ago and

HELP! Firmagon reaction?
Hi - yesterday I had my 3rd monthly (80mg) injection of Firmagon. For all my previous injections, including the 2 initial loading doses, I did not have any major side effects, just some minimal soreness at the injection site which resolved in less than 2 days. Yesterday's injection was a little bit

Was Chemo "Successful"?
I just had my first PSA test after waiting to allow the results to mean something, after 10 rounds of doxytaxel. I was supposed to wait three months but for convenience pushed it by a week. I was hoping for a close to 0 PSA but that is not the case. I see my oncologist in a little more than a week
