Topotecan

Now doctor wants to put me on Topotecan. Anybody been. On that how were the side effects. Been off chemo since Octber2 kind of scary. Anybody been off chemo that long.

Hi all, So far these are the only chemotherapys ive heard of to ask out Onc about are these: Weekly Taxol Cisplatin/Etoposide Carbo/Taxol/Avastin Gemcitabine/Carbo Caelyx Topotecan 'Dose dense' Carboplatin/Paclitaxel (lower dose given weekly over 4 weeks) Has anyone had any others that worked

Was asked in December to choose between weekly Taxol and weekly Topotecan, so guess that’s what I’ll have, but apparently it comes with a lot of nausea... Also, forgot to ask: do some of you experiment immediate memory loss under Taxol? Keep forgetting everything, it's a pain...

I'm currently on carbo/topotecan and got my scan results this week. Good news is that the tumours (near the spleen) have reduced by 50%, fluid all gone and CA125, tho it's still over 1000, hopefully will continue to drop.  I'm BRCA1 and olaparib has been discussed but only for future maintenance.  

Ladies,. Was so glad to be given a weekly drug that didn't seem to wipe me out. Well, week 3 of first cycle and I regret those words. Only me bloods done to day platelets low from topotecan ,any suggestions to help push them back up, wondering would a few pints of Guinness help !!!!!!!!!!! Eily xxxx

Topotecan is found as one drug to induce the Autistic gene expression. So, the cancer patients under chemotherapy and the chemo-therapists need to be aware of this.

Topotecan and liposomal doxorubicin have FDA approval as single agents for ovarian cancer patients with recurrence.

CT scan this week shows that Topotecan, my 3rd line chemo has checked the disease. My good news! I will be continuing the treatment and the next scan in December. Christmas & New Year are looking good, and I will enjoy the autumn sunshine and cosy evenings with a fire before then.

I did also have a short course on Topotecan but that did nothing for me so it was quickly ditched. Anyway after being told the final news last night I am now facing up to the fact that this terrible cancer has beaten me!

Moved onto Topotecan and expecting result of interim scan this week or next. I am considering a trial which includes cyclophosphamide as the control arm and would welcome any info anyone may have had this therapy.

Just a short post to let you know I have completed my first round of Topotecan (3 doses) with a drop in CA 125 from 57 to 47. I know that a 10 point drop may not seem like much, but for me it is. The side effects have not been very bad either.

Please could anyone who has used Topotecan share their experiences and whether it worked and how long remission was. Shabila xxx

Feeling very down starting 3rd line in two weeks Topotecan and Carbo any one any experience of Topotecan? Any stories most welcome. Seems like it's spread to my chest area - anyone with this kind of spread? Needing some support from my sisters here. Much love Trish

I am now on Topotecan which is a drug they use when all others have been exhausted.

Well my visit to the onc for my scan result brought the news that i was kind of expecting , the pains i've been having in my back are the tumours growing again .. so im back on chemotherapy in about 3 weeks time .. only this time a different type TOPOTECAN (Hycamtin) I've to get it every day for 5 days
