My partner has SCLC and mets in brain, had chemo by infusion then went into have immunotherapy, which wasn’t working so then given Topotecan pills which caused his lungs to cloud up with infection, so they topped up his Steroids and ever since has been very bloated and unable to walk very far and altogether

Is there anyone with stage 4 small cell who would like a chat, it's very lonely place on your own, I'm currently on 2nd line Topotecan is there anyone else on this treatment many thanks for reading and best wishes to everyone

Hi all Was wondering if anyone had opinions or experience of whether Gemcitabine or Topotecan have advantages/disadvantages over each other? Either would be given together with Avastin on a weekly basis.

Still pushing for ENT consult I am on Avastin every 4 weeks and topotecan Anyone have a correlation with OC like this? Thanks

Well Hello, On Thursday went to start my 2nd cycle of Topotecan, which I thought was the norm type of day - blood drawn, labs, visit Dr and then get treatment. Well when my Oncologist came into the room sat down and said he thinks it isn't working because lately I was getting nauseous.

So now will be on Topotecan. Which is once a week for three weeks ans then off one. Am not familiar with this one at all. Was wondering if any of my teal sisters ever took this, and what I need to watch for and if it worked.

I have an aggressive, probable ovarian origin, cancer which has been treated over the past 18 months with paclitaxel and carboplatin, Caelyx, and topotecan. The cancer is progressing.

I am about to start a course of topotecan as third line for ovarian cancer, having previously tried carbo/paclitaxol, followed by Caelyx which I felt was helping but was deemed to have failed. Has anyone had topotecan and how did it go?

I’ve now been offered topotecan, i.v., five days on, two weeks off, and wonder if anyone else has tried this and how they got on. If this fails I may have another biopsy as there may then be more options.

Now I am on Topotecan CAT scan showed everything is stable but ca125 continues to rise. Ugh the plan is to keep me on the topotecan and scan in 3 months

However, the nurses at the unit have said it’s not necessary for Topotecan. Has anyone any experience of this and indeed any other pearls of wisdom relating to this regime? Jane

Oncologist commented Taxol weekly, then Topotecan and last option hormonal therapy. He thinks maybe the defenses of my mother were not resist Taxol or Topotecan, and hormonal therapy said that normally doesnt work... After that he thinks there are not more options...

Just done 14 dose's of Taxol to be told yesterday its stopped working.. so consultant wants me to go on TOPOTECAN.. anybody had this chemo to give bit information.. and side effects.. it will be everyday for 4 days then 3 weeks off.. thank you for your support sending big hugs to you all xxxx

They are now trying topotecan. I am having it every week for 3 weeks then a week off. I am having blood work every week. Went for chemo yesterday and my platelets were too low for me to have it, as this was only my second one I was ultra frustrated. Has anyone else done topotecan?

Don't know anything much about Hycamtim - think it's called Topotecan too - as I don't want to google too much. So, any anecdotal advice will be welcomed. My mind is telling me that the best options have eluded me now and I'm on the slippery slope to the end.

Has anyone taken oral Topotecan, would like more information on side effects etc.
