Actermra/Tocilizumab Approval and financial aid in US.
Hello All, As many of you know the GiACTA (
Tocilizumab
) clinical trials were finalized in 2016 and the drug was approved in May of 2017 for Giant Cell Arteritis only. After much research, I have decided to start treatment with Actermra this month.

Does anyone have any experience of having been given this drug (by intravenous infusion once a month)? Used as steroid sparing agent. also ... does anyone have any blood tests results for Plasma IL-6. (Cost seems to be same as CRP but more sensitive to extent to which Prednisalone is working).

All about Kay in France
Moved to France (Picardie) in 2003 and have several major flares and drug changes since (Leflunomide, Methoxtrate, Enbrel, Abtacept,
Tocilizumab
) - some due to secondary effects/allergic reactions, and some to the fact that the drug didn't do a lot.

Starting yet another Biologic
Hi everybody, not posted for sometime now but just wondered if anyone is on
Tocilizumab
. My rheumy has suggested I go onto this biologic now (number 4), as Rituximab has not worked as it should. Would really appreciate any comments, good or bad. Many thanks 😊

Actemra issues
Anyone else having issues with the Actemra (
Tocilizumab
) wearing off before the next infusion? I am finding that my infusions hold for around 3 weeks. Then the pain, stiffness and fatigue set in hard!

Leeds research
I have been told that there was an article in the Mail on 21 st. on PMR GCA mentioning that
Tocilizumab
may be available in the near future, I have yet to look it up. We must be optimistic !

Giving Up
I am on monthly infusions of
Tocilizumab
at half the usual dose due to neutropenic. I take morphine for pain along with the usual concoction to treat RA & I'm really down at the minute & wondering what's the point🤐.....

Breakthrough Treatment for Rheumatics
Am new to the site, but just noticed an article in the Mail on Sunday which advises that a common arthritis drug is effective in treating GCA and PMR without the side effects of steroids - the drug is
tocilizumab
.

Tocilizumab , injections or infusions?
Happy Wednesday fellow RA warriors. I am self injecting but the results are not fantastic after 6months. No side effects and I am feeling a bit better but my hands and feet are really swollen and painful by evening. Does anyone know if infusions are more effective for a Sero negative RA sufferer? Thanks

The start of something?...
I have been on a cocktail of medication, as I have been resistant to most of them, including several biologics and I have recently been put on
Tocilizumab
as a last attempt to find something to calm my symptoms.

Tocilizumab for GCA
Someone has just posted on the patient.info forum that on October 4th 2016
tocilizumab
(Actrema) was approved by the FDA in the USA for use in GCA. I imagine it will be a while before it is approved in the UK - but it is on its way!!

Downward Spiral
Called
Tocilizumab
; after the first infusion no after effects. Three days after the second one I was right back to square one, the pain is dreadful. This was explained to the consultant before my third infusion and I was given a steroid injection.
