tocilizumab

GCA and lefumomide
Dasgupta about me having
Tocilizumab
although it is not yet licensed for GCA. Well I guess I made some progress and at least I know what to do next. I have had so many problems getting anyone to answer my questions.

Tocilizumab - looks like it is working
Had first infusion last Thursday, this was after having Rituximab late Feb then early March. On Friday I helped my daughter move into her own flat, hauled boxes, went up and down stairs, Saturday went out for a lovely lunch with son and a drive down the stunning Ayrshire coast. Sunday went north to

New Research from USA about drugs and GCA-- some of this s quite technical but a lay person should be able to follow the gist.
The mean time to stopping prednisolone was 38 weeks in the
tocilizumab
group vs 50 weeks in the placebo group, for cumulative steroid doses of 43 mg/kg vs 110 mg/kg (P = .0005). There were serious adverse events in seven (35%)
tocilizumab
patients vs five (50%) placebo patients.

Tocilizumab - Has anyone had....
Hello I had my first infusion of Toc! On January 11th, it was ok needed to have the infusion slowed down as I became really Anxious, and had a bit of a Panic. It took nearly 2 hours and I felt a bit wobbly afterwards, very light headed and dizzy but it passed quite quickly. Two weeks in I had a DVT

RITUXIMAB
After recent setbacks on
Tocilizumab
/ MTX the rheumatology team would like to try me on RITUXIMAB . Having read some of the posts here and visited many Rituximab web sites, I have reached the conclusion this is not a drug to be taken lightly.

Not good news!
Also they want to change some of my medication (
tocilizumab
instead of humira injection) Although humira works for other joints it didn't work at all for my hands. The problem will be being off work for 3 months (or more) as my job is physical.

Pleasant result!
I didn't have to mention
Tocilizumab
as he brought it up while discussing drugs in general with us (hubby was with me) he uses it with his RA patients but hasn't heard anything about the trials with PMRGCA as yet.

Andrographolide for GCA?
Tocilizumab
is an immunosuppressant drug currently being used to stop the binding activity of interleukin-6 cytokine, which is the cause of the inflammation, and is now being used in clinical trials for GCA treatment in conjunction with steroid therapy.
