Tikosyn

My Cardiologist has prescribed Digoxin along with the Tikosyn I am currently taking to help slow down my flutter episodes. I’m also taking Metoprolol. My concern is that I’m taking 2 anti-arrhythmic drugs. Any input about this?

After years of tikosyn now just taking a small dose of beta blocker daily and of course, anticoagulant. But I have this gassy stomach….never had. And of course I have lost weight…not too much, but zero appetite. Anyone know why? I hate to complain.

I am now being told I should try a medication called Tikosyn. This medication is relatively new and is very toxic so I will have to be hospitalized for 3 days so I can be monitored for an extremely high tachycardia response. Does anyone else have experience with this drug?

Searching through the forum I can see people discussing Tikosyn, Flecanide, Diltiazem and Norpace, of which only Flecanide has been mentioned by my GP.

I've been on multiple rhythm control drugs which sooner or later failed, including Tikosyn, had multiple cardiofversions, and one ablation which failed, I'm told because of my huge left atrium; so I wasn't offered any more ablations.

Last week I was put on Tikosyn. I still have SOB and chest pain but no Afib. I wonder if I will ever be normal again. My heart is structurally sound. The EP told me to gradually increase my exercise and I am trying to lose weight. I am not obese and do not have high blood pressure.

He is recommending to start with Bisoprolol, then Verapamil, then Sotolol or Tikosyn. He is leaning towards the Bisoprolol because I am now running tachy much of the time. So I am now alternating between inappropriate sinus tachycardia and SVT/Atrial Bigemjny.

A while back I posted regarding the critical shortages of Propafenone, which then bled over to shortages of Flecainide and Tikosyn.......which may continue until February.

From what I have read, there is a dangerous shortage of propafenone in the U.S and Canada (at least), and this shortage has spilled over into shortages of flecainide and tikosyn! Apparently there is little to none to be had, and this is expected to continue until late February!

Just spent 2 1/2 day in hospital to get Tikosyn dosage right and get heart back into sinus rhythm. It Worked! I feel great. I using the generic Dofetilide. Much cheaper. I lost 7 1/2 lbs. on the bland meals. I call it "The Hospital Diet". 😊

She was admitted to the hospital to receive Tikosyn. The drug got her out of AFib but caused an unacceptable prolongation of her QT interval and was stopped. She was sent home with a prescription for Amioderone, 200 md/day. She has no ventricular issues and otherwise has a healthy heart.

From the first diagnosis, all sorts of toxic and scary meds (Tikosyn in recent years which has actually worked very well) multiple cardioversions, and an ablation that failed b/c of giant left atrium, I think caused by my past long distance bike riding (?).

Now I need to decide between a second ablation or a more serious anti arrhythmia drug, Tikosyn or Sotalol with 2 nights hospital monitoring. I would go for the ablation if it was the last one, but it’s not guaranteed.

I am on Tikosyn which shortens the episodes but I still get them. Recently when I am doing boot camps and my heart rate gets over 130. I pretty much had to find out my triggers and have not had a drop of wine or caffeine since my diagnosis. Eating late at night does it, so light salads for now.

My EP put me on Tikosyn which seemed to shorten the episodes. I am still in the paroxysmal Afib level. I do not drink alcohol or caffeine. Cut out sugar, eating late and stress. My doctor also told me he is suspecting I might have Sick Sinus Syndrome. Great! What else can be thrown at me.

Is anyone on this forum using this drug? Yesterday I met with a cardiologist who recommended it. (He was selling ablations, but when I said I thought I'd try medications for a while, this was the one he recommended.) Apparently it is less toxic in the long run than Amiodarone, but it requires three-days

I have been diagnosed with bradycardia-tackycardia syndrome and am scheduled for a pacemaker implant and then to be put of Tikosyn. Does anyone have this - is so, how are you doing and what has been your experience?

I am going into the hospital for 3 days to determine the dosage I will take for Tikosyn. Can someone share with me what to look forward to. Did you have to have cardioversion during your stay? Is it scarry? Just dreading it not knowing what to expect.

. 🤬 I’ve been through sotalol, tikosyn, and currently dronedarone. Dronedarone has kept the events shorter and slower, but no less frequent. a bit of progress. Now the EP wants to try amiodarone, recognizing that I’m really too young to be on it long term.

I have been taking Gabapentin for Neuropothy in my feet for 7 years and I also have Afib that I am managing with Tikosyn for normal heart rhythym. Recently I have seen posts from people who have heart rhythm issues from taking Gabapentin.
