Quick question. St John's wort. Is it ok to take when on levothyrxine.
Asking for my daughter who started them a couple of days ago to help with her low mood. . She is now on 100mcg and her last blood tests a month ago showed her TSH down to 50s from 93. Still a long way to go. Endo believes she has had a virus back in May which resulted in subacute throiditis this

Advice on test results before GP appointment
Hello all. Just wanted to say firstly how great it is to finally find somewhere where people can understand how you feel when you have hypothyroidism, and take the time to support you trying to take control of your own health. I was finally diagnosed and started treatment for autoimmune hypothyroidism

Very fast pulse that I do not understand. Help!
I have somewhat neglected my hypothyroidism over the last couple of years to concentrate on my more recently diagnosed Pernicious Anaemia, Bile acid malabsorption and atrophic gastritis. I have been taking 100mcg Levothyroxine and 125mcg Levothyroxine alternating each day and that has seemed pretty

Rant about Gp lowering levo.prescription!
After a ‘we will have to agree to disagree’ face to face appointment with GP 7 weeks ago the next day he sneakily changed my levothyroxine prescription from 100 to 75 mcg, knowing full well the earliest I would able to speak to him( or another Gp) on the phone to argue my case/ complain would be 3+weeks

Test results
Hi Everyone, I'd appreciate some help understanding my test results. As far as I can see my TSH looks high and the others look low. I've been on 50mg levo for about 2 years. My GP has added 'no further action' under the results. Is this right? I had expected my dose to be increased this time, as I've

TSH a little high, Ft3 low?
Hi. Here are my latest results. My cholesterol is also a little high which I believe may indicate my thyroid may be a little undermedicated. I'm on 125mcg Levothyroxine. I stopped T3 late last year as I was having terrible sleep with night sweats at the time (I was also on the T3 withdrawal clinic).

Elbow Bursitis
Now that I have been on T3 Liothyronine for a few weeks some symptoms are improving. I was feeling much less stiff, and muscle pain had improved. Unfortunately I have now developed what I think is an elbow bursitis. When I read about it most articles say you are at higher risk with Thyroid disease. Currently

advice on most recent Thyroid bloods as seeing Endo in 1/10/24
Hi I was getting my thyroid checked as I had a 24 hr ecg and the report suggested it, I think due to palpitations /missed beats. Also seeing Endo 1/10 so she usually asks if I’d get them checked . Here goes TSH 3.80. Range 0.30-4.50 FT4 14.9 “ 11.0-22.0 FT3. 3.5.

Raised TSH Causes…
If you don’t have hypothyroidism but have persistently raised TSH - what are other causes of this? I have read so far it can be caused by adrenal insufficiency, inflammation, immune system problems. Is there anything else? Anyone else find their raised TSH (normal ft4/3) is due to something

Virus Infection Activates Thyroid Stimulating Hormone Synthesis in Intestinal Epithelial Cells
OK - so this is in mice. But the implications could be significant. Especially if the amount of TSH produced is anything like what the pituitary can produce. Also whether thyroid hormone would affect production of TSH within intestinal epithelial cells? If so, the taking of any thyroid hormone orally

How soon should blood be tested after initial hypothyroidism diagnosis/treatment?
Hello there, I received a diagnosis of hypothyroidism last month on a visit to hospital for a fast heart rate/after bloods were taken. My TSH was 37.5. The hospital started me on 50mg of Levothyroxine and said I should be tested after six weeks. I have today received a text message from my Dr, stating
