Tapering off Naproxen
I wrote some time ago about my rheumatologist changing Meloxicam for Naproxen when I had hip/groin pain at the beginning of April . I experienced sudden groin pain and saw a rheumatologist ( not my usual one ) who ordered an X-ray. The X-ray showed healing pelvic fractures which may/may not have been

Celecoxib and Meloxicam, cyclooxygena-2 inhibitors, delay recurrence and reduce PSA velocity in patients with non-metastatic prostate cancer
Abstract Introduction: A common treatment for localized prostate cancer (PCa) is radiotherapy; however, effectiveness is hampered because of toxicities and tumor resistance. Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitors have been identified as potential agents that could improve treatment outcomes and have demonstrated

Naproxen
My rheumatologist has changed my inflammatory medication MELOXICAM to NAPROXEN for pain relief . ( Have been on Meloxicam for years ) . Is anyone else on Naproxen ? Do you find it effective ? How long does it take to work ? I've read the accompanying leaflet and wonder how people have found the side

How Many ISTS do you have? I'm up to 8!
My journey started with my OrthopedIST that told me “sadly, your knee pain is not a torn meniscus, it’s arthritis”. After the pity party was over (and a bottle of wine was consumed) I pulled up my big girl panties and started my new collection – ISTS! My next appointment was to my new friend, the RheumatologIST

Off topic - love my rheumy
Had an excellent telephone consultation with my rheumy today. Have an awful long lasting flare which has just subsided and having to go for a colonoscopy after positive bowel screening test, and he was very helpful. Apologised that it was not a face to face but said that was his trust policy, but would

Hello, after 2 years of treatment I stopped my Biologic Benepali last April 2021 (after 2 yrs it caused a severe, itchy, neck, chest and face rash that wouldn't go away with Betnovate and Piriton). Later in April, I had a steroid injection and my 2nd Astra Z (no after effects) On 16th June I paid £500

Anyone taking NSAID's while on Blood Thinners
My orthopedist prescribed a one month course of daily Meloxicam (Mobic) for my shoulder pain. Mobid is an NSAID like Ibuprofen, Advil, Alleve, etc. Both my primary doctor and EP were concerned because I'm on the blood thinner, Xarelto. The pharmacist said the combination OK as long as long as it wasn't

Meloxicam as an alternative to prednisone.
A friend of mine has had PMR for approx 6 months and has been taking prednisone during this time. She recently changed her doctor and her new doctor has now told her he is concerned that she has been on pred for so long as it can cause osteoporosis. He has now prescribed for her Austell Meloxicam one

Back pain and surprises
Hey y’all!!! Now that I’ve recouped from family matters, I have yet another surprise. Been having low back pain for about 3 yrs. Managed with PT and NSAIDs for almost 2 years. Beginning of this year, pain just wouldn’t let up so I asked for meloxicam. Meloxicam worked amazingly well but was nixed after

Meloxicam issues after HDBT
Just finished the first treatment. The second treatment comes in 2 weeks. My RO put me on 2 pills/day of meloxicam and 1 pill/day of tamsulosin. The former is an anti-inflammatory and the later to help the flow. I find that meloxicam is giving me headaches. Anyone else have that issue?

Death of a family member
I don’t really know where to go or where to share this but I am heartbroken right now and I can’t sleep. I know this group will understand. I have a strong family history of lupus and vascular problems on my fathers side. My paternal uncle died at age 41 of a ruptured aortic aneurysm. No one knows

Meloxicam is it better than naproxen?
I’ve been taking naproxen with lansoprozole but I still get terrible heartburn. I’ve seen that meloxicam is easier on the stomach than naproxen, and I was wondering if anyone has tried meloxicam and what side affects it has? Thank you x
