Meloxicam /nsaids

Hi everyone, I know as soon as I had my HA and 3 stents fitted I was told I must not continue taking Meloxicam which I took for gout related very stiff joints/ bursitis in the knees. All had been well post HA until my cardio stress test/ long story short, my knee became inflamed, I am 6 weeks later, now my other knee has gone the same way (all the extra pressure no doubt). First knee isn’t back to normal yet. All I’ve got is pain relief which helps me sleep.

My question is, if short term use, like a week or two, has anyone had experience of being prescribed an anti inflammatory such as meloxicam?

Obvs I will ask my own Dr tomorrow aswell, just wondered if anyone had been down this route or had similar experiences?

My pre HA knee recovery usingMeloxicam would be 7-10 days. As I said I’m now 6 weeks in and other knee on the blink 😖

Thanks for reading 👀

Gareth

Hello... I am replying not because I know the answer to your question but because you mention Meloxicam. In an earlier post you said you are on the usual cocktail of drugs. I imagine this contains BP medication. Meloxicam is known for increasing BP and together with other NSAIDs not recommended for us hearties. This needs to be raised with your GP.

Currently I am on Gabapentin daily for phantom pain following an amputation, and Paracetamol and Oxycodone on a PRN basis.

Thanks. I’ve never really had a proper diagnosis when I’ve had a flare up. I’m on tablets for gout, have been for 10-12 years. I did take the meloxicam also, and definitely more creaky in the joints when not taking that. When I stopped the meloxicam I started taking iMove tablets, which are glucosamine/ green lipped mussel/ omega 3 and other vitamins. I was hoping this would be more of a miracle than it’s turned out to be (so far). I will ask about that supplement you mention though, thanks.

Cheers

I recently was put on gout medication for my heart. Names differ from country to country, the one I'm on is Colchicine or Lengout. Maybe that can be used. Take care.

I have been prescribed it a few times. Cardiologist has told me a maximum of 3 days and then very rarely. There is genuine reasons for avoiding NSAIDs.

I was taking anti-inflammatory for spinal pain prior to having 3 stents. I was told not to ever take any NSAID as they can cause a bleed. I can only take Paracetamol for pain.
