Could very hot weather or recent surgery/general anaesthetic affect a fingerprick home blood test?
I sent a
T4
/T3/TSH fingerprick
test
back to Medichecks. It was the very hot week in early September... 29C degrees here in Norfolk. Medichecks received it the next day.
Test
done per our recommended conditions.

Am I overmedicated
Managed to convince gp to
test
full thyroid to include T3 and
T4
. Got results today.
Test
was 8.15am and last Levo taken 24 hours before. Gp is ringing me next Tues to discuss as its still showing I am over-medicated and as I had a heart attack 14 weeks ago gp is saying there could be a contection.

T3 blood test result
Doesn’t sound like they can
test
t4
. I’ve finally got myT3 tested as below and have been told normal. Should this ideally be close to 6, my result is 3.9?

Update after Endocrinologist appointment. Ive been discharged.
He says its a certain
test
that is used that is causing the low
T4
result but then he went on to say its also my mean average. 🤷♀️ Hes referred me to a gastroenterologist for the low vitamins and digestive problems. Good news is that my Mri came back fine. I don't really know what to think.

Thyroid and antibiotics
I have been prescribed antibiotics but have developed acid reflux since starting them. Is it okay to take lansoprazole short term hopefully? And also, will it affect my thyroxine absorption? I know to leave a two hour gap between thyroxine and medication. Thank you for your help

,

Unable to source tiromel
I have been taking tiromel for a couple of years. I source it myself but see an endo privately for support and to help get my T4 from GP. My usual online pharmacy has been out of stock for a couple of months. Can anyone message me with a source of tiromel. My current stock is out of date.

Iodine deficiency, elevated TSH
Hi I'm new here in this forum. I'm from the Netherlands and due to celiac gluten free for over 10 years. Bread and processed salt are the main sources of iodine here, both I don't eat. A few months ago my TSH came back 6.9 and FT4 middle of the range, and the doctor wasn't helpful at all he was unreachable

My introduction re Thyroid tests April. 2024
I’ve just had another thyroid
test
and my
T4
levels are now 14.5 not sure about my Tsh levels as she couldn’t answer at first and them said 4.5 (not sure if she was telling me the top limit or my actual result on that. I felt she was in a rush and I was asking too many questions.

Covid & dosing
Hi, I tested +ve for covid this morning. It's the first time I've had it. I've had 5 vacs. My temperature is high & I'm taking paracetamol for that.My question is, should I alter my T4/NDT dose? I haven't been ill at all since I started on thyroid meds in 2015. I wondered if I should increase, decrease

Results- antibody
I had a thyroid blood
test
. While my tsh and
t4
are within range (t3 borderline low) as I am for 7 months now on Levotyroxine that appears to work. The anti-tg antibodies are now high (at 570 IU/ml) and it is first time that they were tested.

Irritability on levo dose increase?
Hello all, I'm about 4 weeks in to a dose increase of levo from 100 to 125mcg. I'm familiar with a surge in 'wired and frantic' energy when I've reached about the 3 week point on a new higher dose in the past. And I had that a few days ago. It had settled. However today I've been increasingly irritable

Newbie with a lot of questions
Hi everyone. This site looks amazing, and I can see I’m at the beginning of a steep learning curve. So I shall try to keep this simple. My husband has had a diagnosis of chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) for about 10 years. He suffers brain fog that gets worse with processing tasks so for now I’m here

Thyroxine help please
For 20 years I've been taking 200mg of thyroxine. Last year my results started showing over medication and since then I've gone down to 170 then now 150mg and still showing over medication Has anyone any insight as to why this is happening. Thank you.

Vencamil (was Aristo T4) now more expensive
This is for information as much as anything. I've been settled on Aristo T4 for a good 18 months. Pharmacist this week said they can't get them so I pointed out they have rebranded to 'Vencamil' , after looking they agreed that was the case and said to get GP to change prescription to reflect that.
