If you have a multinodular goitre that is producing thyroid hormone, you could be Hyperthyroid from that. But that would not mean you have Graves.
Graves is caused by TRab (TSH Receptor antibodies) and without having tested for them, it would be wrong to diagnose Graves. Being hyperthyroid alone does NOT diagnose Graves.
Was the B12 shot a one-off? Or part of a planned series of loading doses? Do they plan for you to have regular shots (every 4 to 12 weeks)?
I Asked for it myself as I was falling asleep with exhaustion..I also was diagnosed with severe anxiety which is correct but I feel like a mental patient rather than someone who is just plain unwell..I have an awesome doctor who is leaving..drat
Hi Coulby, I was diagnosed with overactive thyroid and Graves about 5 years ago. I was started on carbimazole and struggled with aching joints etc at first. The overactivity also causes many symptoms including anxiety which makes everything seem worse.
My advice is to stick with the carbimazole as prescribed. It takes a few weeks to start kicking in and to reduce your thyroid levels. Once it does you will feel more like your normal self. Then your carbimazole dose will be reduced, which will also reduce/stop the side effects.
Be patient, carbimazole works, it just takes time. You will feel normal again. Unlike lots of people on here I don’t study or follow my blood results. I just take the tablets as instructed and lead a normal life. You will get there. Best of luck.
