Mask wearing!
He said it is because I have active RA, I am taking
steroids
and methotrexate, and the risks from a virus like Covid are a lot higher for me. Do you folks wear a mask when you visit the hospital for example? When I attend a hospital appointment I am the only person in the building wearing a mask!

GCA relapse
I am currently having a bad GCA relapse and have put my
steroids
up from 3.5 to 7.5 mg. What always surprises me is that if I have a hot bath, one where I am fully immersed, I miraculously get so much better straight away. - an effect which often lasts until the morning.

Lack of understanding of PMR and prescribing Prednisolone
Fortunately, the majority don’t and will never experience such mismanagement and consequent problems due to ‘fear’ of
steroids
on the part of doctors/rheumatologists which is, in turn, instilled in the patient. https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/imed.1010

steroids and hip replacement surgery
I’m on
steroids
for PMR and have had to go back up to 15 for a flare. I’m due to have a hip replacement hopefully in the next couple of months. My question is will it still go ahead while I’m on them.?

Flare or adrenal crisis?
(I'm really keen to get off the
steroids
as I'm a bit freaked out by possible side effects and I have niggling doubts about diagnosis .. I suppose the GPs doubt has got in my head and I do have a history of osteoarthritis in neck/spine). Anyway a week ago I crashed.

At 70 (male), I developed asthma in November, and was given a Salamol inhaler and put on a course of
steroids
. Didn't have to use the inhaler for weeks, but by January, the asthma had gotten pretty bad and was getting worse. I was taking about 16 puffs a day.

Frustrated with clinic
They advised additional treatment for this protocol (
steroids
and intralipids), but forgot to add it to my treatment plan until I pointed it out. Then they listed my drugs but missed the dates to start and doses for some.

Steroids and Ibuprofen
My doctor has said under no circumstances to take any medication containing ibuprofen because of my
steroids
. Paracetomol does nothing to relieve the pain, co-codamol makes me ill. I read on the forum other people take ibuprofen which I think would help me. Any ones thoughts?

Dexamethasone & Chloramphenicol. Do they cause blurred vision?
My vision's been quite blurry since - even this morning, before I started putting the
steroids
in, it wasn't quite right. I've had steroid drops before but only in my right which has limited vision so I've not been aware of the effects really.

PMR mentioned on TV
And they went through the different people and then said the lady had been prescribed
steroids
to help with her chronic pain. I felt a sense of being underwhelmed that the condition was not mentioned clearly at the end of the programme! Did any one else see it.?

I would appreciate your thoughts on what is happening to me right now and the best way to get help or do I just plough through.
I know there is no point going to the Rheumy as they will tell me I no longer have LVV and to get off
steroids
, hence I repeatedly cancel my appointments and reschedule, stocking up on pred so that I can manage myself.

Risk of PMR to GCA
If PMR isn’t treated with
steroids
, what % then go on to develop GCA? This figure must be different to the 20% of people who will go on to develop GCA when taking
steroids
. Hope I’m making sense?
